Gear Sets

I noticed I took on Arcanist and it gave me another gear set. Does this mean it adds one for each new class I take on? Or is there a limit?
If so, that encourages me to do each class on one character even more. I thought at first it was a limit of 8, but I found I have 10 now [after conjurer and arcanist].

Yes, you get a new gear set after you unlock a new class. You also get one for unlocking a Job, I think there are 26 gear sets total.

26 is after unlocking all the classes, but not any of the jobs. (That's the number I'm at now as I haven't gotten to jobs yet.) That would make the final total 35 if you unlock all the jobs.

If you're really going to use all the classes you unlock, then the extra gear sets you get are just keeping pace with the additional ones you'll need to use. You're generally going to need a set for each class you want to switch between, so you keep the same number of extra gear sets for other purposes (whether that's cosmetic sets or gear with different stat bonuses for different roles).

I was noticing that, and at first, thought I was restricted to just the 8 outfit sets and I was like well, guess this will be my magic character, etc...
Now that I know they unlock as they go, it makes it alot nicer to know, though odds are, I'll still split them up. Not enough quests to go around for lv 1-10

Just use the hunting log, FATEs, and guildleves. There's too many pros to doing everything on one character. Level 1-10 is easy especially when you factor in the +50% XP bonus from having a battle class at a higher level than your current one.

You do get a gear set for each class you unlock. You do NOT get a gear set for unlocking a job. There are nineteen classes. When gear sets are first unlocked, you get eight gear sets. Since you already have one class when you unlock gear sets, you end up with twenty six when you unlock all the classes. That's the max. There's a reason why your armory chest has twenty five spaces for each slot. Twenty five plus the one you're currently wearing = one space for each of your gear sets. (and that's why rings need another twenty five spaces, because each gear set has *two* rings)

You are incorrect. I got a slot for ACN, one when I did the first SMN quest and one when I did the first SCH quest. That is one for the class and one for each job as well.

You do get a gear set for unlocking a job. I unlocked DRG just a few days ago and got one. My character screen even says I can make 30 total.

You definitely get one for jobs. On one of my characters I have every class, including every gathering and crafting class, unlocked, plus two jobs. I can make a gear set for all. I don't have to share a gear set for ARC and BRD, or CNJ and WHM. They get their own. And I still have sets for everything else.
