Can't Beat Brayflox Longstop

My friend and I tried this dungeon last week right when we hit the required level. We were under geared, and had no prior knowledge of the dungeon. We died a few times along the way but we made it to the final boss, where we wiped over and over again.

So I suggest we reach level 35, and attain the best gear we could get for now. We both have High Quality gear equipped for level 35s, and we steam rolled through all the other bosses and monsters. However, we get to the final boss with 40 mins to go, and we just wipe over and over again.

He is a tank and I am a summoner. We tried everything, hes pulling altair to avoid poison regen, hes dodging dragon breathe. I am laying out as much dps as I can. We get him down to about 20% everytime and it seems like we all suddenly drop lie flies. Is it the healer running out of mana, is he not tanking right, is the dps not enough, please give me some advice.

Are you guys accidentally running/staying in the poison pools as well? That's really the only thing I can think of that would give you trouble if you're dodging everything else.

Whenever the message pops up that he is healing, my friend quickly moves him to another corner. i honestly think its the healer that is either running out of mana or just letting lax. It always seems like my friend ends up going down first, then he turns straight on me and 1-2 hits from that guy and I am toast lol. So far we have only had white mages, I kind of wish we could get a Scholar in our party, we have had much more success in previous dungeons with Sch over Wmg.

I did brayflox as SMN and healer was SCH so he couldn't remove poison.
After a wipe at the boss, the second try after landing DoTs I kept only healing the tank to help healer betweeen renewing the DoTs.

We managed that way.

I will have to give that a try, the fight might get drawn out a little longer, but at least hopefully we will beat it. Been stuck at this part of the story for quite a while now. Getting a little discouraged.

Make sure your friend is evading all the breath moves (getting hit by those will make your healer run out of MP). Get a CNJ to heal. As SMN, let CNJ focus on healing the tank while you heal other members and CNJ if they get hit by poison. Assist CNJ with healing the tank if tank gets low on HP at any stage for any reason. Gather poisons to the sides of the room as close to each other as possible so that tank and everyone else have a lot of safe space to move.

Don't wait the message to appear.
As soon as the poison appears, already move!

When the message appears, he's already regen.

If you can get the rest of the party to cooperate, get your ranged DPS and your healer clump up together on the opposite side of the room from the tank, and have everyone (including the tank) move clockwise whenever he throws out a poison. It really helps to keep the room clear so the tank doesn't have to hunt around for a clear spot. And yes, everyone needs to move the instant the dragon spits the poison. Shouldn't even be waiting for the graphic to fully appear on the floor.

Make sure your friend is rotating through his cooldowns. If he doesn't have cross-class defensive skills yet, now's the time to get some. Featherfoot and/or Second Wind from PGL, Convalescence from GLA, Foresight from MRD (whichever one he's not), Keen Flurry from LNC (can't use Keen Flurry on PLD/WAR, but you can on GLA/MRD). The fight lasts long enough to use CDs multiple times, so don't be skimpy. (Foresight is the worst of these, so if there's picking and choosing to do, that one is the lowest priority.)

It took my FC and I a few tries to get it down. Now we do it all the time cuz after they saw my battlemage robe set they wanted it ( or the other sets for other classes ) cuz it looks great. We are pretty smooth and quick about it now xD
Practice makes perfect as they say I guess. It's the first really hard fight you come across, I think. But whats in a game without some challenge, no? What the others here have said is good strategy /advice

i definitely remember having mp problems in groups that didnt move out of poison fast
but can't you view your healers mp bar in your window..

get your friend to take him to the outskirts of the room facing one way, with ranged dps/healer sat behind his back but not quite on top of each other, whenever he turns round to spit, tank moves a few steps around the outskirt of the room and everyone follows, he should be dead by the time you've done a circle of the room and if he isn't the poison pools start disappearing then so you can do a second lap
