Geared enough to tank CM?

Hi -

Im a fresh 50 and im at the quest to do CM, so i got into a group via duty finder and the group refused to go with me as a tank because i am undergeared....i suppose i can understand that, BUT isnt CM the place you farm as a fresh 50 to get tomes and get DL gear?

Would i be a crutch to a CM group with my current gear? and am i destined to only run WP until i get tomes to at least upgrade a few pieces?

They were talking about your accessories. If you update them to the level 49 accessories (HQ even better) then you'll be golden until darklight

imo CM supposed to be finished with AF gear because its a storyline dungeon, its just the majority of ppl doing af only want to farm it fast and easy

Try to get the lvl 48/49 Amber set. If you can get the HQ for cheap, then go for it, it lasted me quite a while since I have terrible luck with drops. The rest of your gear is pretty much what I finished my first CM with. My sword was worse, actually.

Just don't try to overdo it and you will be fine.

If you just hit 50, you need to replace all your accessories with lvl 49 gear at least, if not you're doing yourself a disservice.

First thing I told my FC mates when they hit 50 was to replace the crap lvl 30-40 rings/necklace/earring/bracelet they were using since for the most part you'll be doing CM/Prae/WP in your AF.

I don't think so. I may be wrong, but if I remember correctly WP bosses drop ilvl55 armor pieces (other than accesories), the exception being the Tonberry King himself that drops ilvl55 weapons, and coffers in there drop allagan pieces, relic precursor pieces, random mats and a pet.

amber is enough
WP only drop weapon and armor not better than AK

Wanderers Palace drops iLevel 55 gear, so you can start replacing your AF with that. Although it is not neccesary for finishing CM nor Prae. As others have said before, improve your jewelry. Personally I had 2 HQ Amber Rings with +6 melded strength (one STR materia III one STR Materia II) Similar for neck and wrist. You can get Tier III materia quite cheap, and the HQ Amber rings are not that expensive either.

Gear Progression is as follow:

AF -> Wanderers Palace (ilvl55) -> Andapoor Keep (ilvl60) -> Darklight (ilvl70) -> Allagan/AF2 (ilvl90)

Before heading to Andapoor Keep I would also recommend farming Ifrit or Garuda Sword, both fights are doable in AF Wanderers Gear.

CM is easy as pie.
You can go in there with a level 39 accessory and still clear it.
Really, its not a dfficult instance at all.
