Class decision? Possible mistake

Hi guys, i'm fairly new to the game but loving it so far. Thing is, when I started, I was set on going for CNJ, and eventually WHM as I have quite enjoyed healing in other MMOs. But after lvling my CNJ to lvl16, I've had a change of heart and want to go Tank again. I used to Tank in LOTR. I'm now looking to going for PLD eventually

Anyway, want I need to know is, am i baulked for progressing to PLD? Should I have rolled GLD as my primary class at char creation, in order to get the main storylline quests on the GLD? So, if i'm screwed for getting to PLD with my primary class - CNJ? Or am i missing something?

Wouldn't be too bothered aout starting again, but if didn't have to, then great!!

As I say, I maybe missing something, so please point me in the right direction if so.

Not at all. My suggestion to you is to go learn Gladiator, Join some fates in the Horizon area until level 12 Also do the hunting log. Move over to Aleport after that and join a fate group until you're level 15 or 16 then go back to doing your story quests. That's the brilliance of the class system in FF.

Ah, thank you sooo much. So, if I've got this right. Pick up GLD, lvl it to 15/16 and just pick up my main storyline quests again, where I left off on my CNJ?

Yes, that's it. Like Malackai said, be sure to complete your Level 5, 10, and 15 Class quests for Gladiator as you get to them.

you can just go to the gladiator guild and learn the job as matter of fact I think you actually need conjurer lv 15 as sub class for the pally class anyway just continue leveling on the gladiator and at lv 16 and higher the main story just continues on that class instead

the only thing you will miss is the conjurer class specific story chain but gladiators have their own story chain besides the main story.

You haven't lost anything. In fact, getting PLD *requires* you to level CNJ to 15.

I would suggest doing all the quests in Uldah after switching to GLD. With rest XP and a moogle hat (if you have it), you will get close to level 10 just from these. Then with your hunt log, it should put you over 10. Then start up with fates until you can work on your Main Story again.

That is, unless you want to use fates to level from 1-10. Either way works.
