Well, you can't run to Limsa. It's an island, cut off. You could run to Gridania, but that's it. The only way in or out of Limsa with by Airship, Ferry, or teleport. Airship and Ferry aren't available until you get the Envoy quest, and you can't teleport there until you've already been there. Either way, they're waiting.

But you shouldn't start crafting yet, anyway. Wait until after you get past the third dungeon and get retainers. They'll store goods for you. You'll eat up your inventory space in a hurry once you get into crafting.
