    Healer GCD

Yes, I come from WOW. No I am not trying to make this game like WOW. Just something that has been bothering me, and I have heard others share my sentiments.

Why on earth would the GCD be longer than our longest-cast-time go-to spell? Most spells are what, like 2.29 seconds? And the GCD is 2.5? I don't know why? It trips me up all of the time. I know the reason is because I played WOW for 6 years, so I am very used to that flow for casting.

In this case, though, I am still getting tripped up trying to do my chain cast (when needed), and nothing happens because GCD. And there's an extra second wasted to recognize the issue, so it delays healing a little.

I mean... we have to manage mana, threat, and as if that weren't enough to keep us from being WotLK spam healers, we have this really awkward GCD. I know there are some ways to drop that down a bit. Still, I really question why they went with this GCD.

if your heal is 2.39, GCD should be the same. Spell speed affects both.

Hmmm, I haven't really experienced that issue. Though in the interest of full disclosure, I only played WoW extremely briefly and I play a SCH, not a WHM in FFXIV. I find that whenever I need to cast a spell, it is up and ready for me. The only times I get tripped up are when I am still casting a spell that I needed casting 2 seconds ago, which happens more often that I like to admit. I even usually have time to throw in some DD spells to fill the games while my Adloquium crit is up.

I can't speak to high level CNJ/WHM, but I don't feel the GCD is particularly debilitating. The pace is different, perhaps, but not bad. I can only speak for myself though. I'd just suggest playing around with it some more, and maybe you'll grow used to it.

If you've lowered your Cure recast to 2.29 presumably from stacking spellspeed. That means your GCD is lowered to 2.29 as well so there shouldn't be any problem chain casting Cures. Yes the pacing is different but it adds a greater risk/reward element to healing. Picking the right spell to cast and the right target to cast on is a priority.

It's modeled after the turn based system of previous Final Fantasy games. It requires you to think about what to use when, instead of just spamming abilities.

All cures but Cure III are 2s casts with a 2.5s GCD.

Yes, it is totally fine that we have global cooldown as kind of ATB replacement in XIV:ARR, an MMORPG type of game.

But: (Why?) do we have casting times as well?!

Because, like it or not, old FFs also had casting times

    j/k

I dunno, but on higher levels and in endgame content you barely notice the GCD. :/

I don't understand why you're complaining? They've allowed your heals to come off faster.

Most classes do get a crapload of instantspells off the GCD and some spells with about 2/3 casttime of the CD. Your duty as exceptional good player is to fit those instants into that gap, when to hold em back and when to fill a gcd only with instants.
