Skip/Stutter...Anyone else have this?

Hello,

I have been having some graphical issues and I'm hoping you guys could help me. Let me explain.

I keep getting this really annoying skip when I run on the open world and it is more predominant when I ride my mount.

When I run on open field there is this small freeze (less than a second skip, not a flicker) that happens then everything is normal for 1-3 seconds and then is happens again. No fps drops when it occurs.
I can see this small skip easier when I look towards the bottom of the screen and to the sides when staring at the environment. It is like it stops than it continues. It doesn't matter in what game settings it is in, lowest or highest, it still happens.

This is what I have done so far: Downloaded newest driver, clean-wipe and re-installation of windows 8,drivers and game, made sure GPU, RAM, HDD and PSU are well pluged in, all type of CCC graphical configurations.

Here is my System:
-i54670K no OC at 3.4
-Xfx HD 7870 Ghz edition with single fan. game stays at 68-72* with in game frame limit at 60fps
-Corsair 8 gigs of DDR3 1600 ram - timing of 11-11-11-30. I dont know if this is a problem but this ram is rate 1.65v with a Cas L. of 9 but my system lowers to 1.5v with a Cas L. of 11 and speed of 1600.
-Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
-No SSD.
-Corsair 600W PSU +bronze non modular.
-Windows 8 OEM.
-20.1" 60hz Acer monitor,at 1920X1080 resolution.

It is kind of frustrating b/c the people I play online with have lower specs and have no such issues.
I would I appreciate any advice or suggestions

Are you playing in Full Screen or Windowed Mode (Windowed Full Screen)?

I had a similar issue running in Windowed Full Screen mode. Someone suggested switching to Full Screen, and I haven't had a stutter since. No if it's an actual "freeze" where a frame is stuck instead of just skipping a frame and moving forward, then I'm not entirely sure.

This also seems to improve my "smooth" frames in the game, when running at lower frames per second.

Check this real quick
Open your CCC, go to gaming> 3d App settings> Make sure everything is "Use App Settings"
if you don't want to mess other games up hit "+ Add" and lovate your FFXIV.exe and then set everything up to "Use App Settings" while FFXIV is running

Kitra: Yes, I have tried several times switching between full screen window mode to window mode full screen to different window mode sizes and the issue still remains. Even with full screen no window mode.

Koga: I have also done what you said. All my settings are set to "use app". I have tried other configurations with the game settings ans CCC to no avail.

¤ Not sure how it works in CCC but you could force Vsync there and disable FPS cap ingame to see if the game likes it better.
¤ Tried installing the 13.10 Beta2 drivers?

This (from what I can tell) seems to be an issue with the game and our graphics card. I have the 7870 also, as does my friend, we both have the same issue.

That is unfortunate, I know a while back the game absolutely hated my GTX 670. Took about 8 different driver updates to finally fix "most" of the issues.

Damn it! I had a feeling it was going to be the card. Sigh...

I think I'm going to buy a HD 7970 and sell the 7870.
It sucks because it only happens in this game.

Have the same issue on my 6870, I have tired RadeonPro, various CCC setups but I still get the stutter. It's mostly in the Black Shroud areas, some are worse than others. I've also tried it with 13.9, 13.10 beta drivers and so on.

Fullscreen is the worst for me, maximized windowed works best at 60 limiter most everywhere except Black Shroud. Hope this gets fixed soon, either by SE optimizing stuff or them working hand in hand with AMD to get a good driver that works. Most other places run almost flawlessly, even crowded cities run smooth.

Also to note, I have no issues in any other game. Another thing is the fps is always high even though the game skips, no drops in fps or anything. Can sit at 60-70 fps with the limiter on and it still skips and jerks from time to time. Seriously ennoying.
