    How many times can you use emergency code for tokens?

    Let's say I download the security token app for iPhone. My phone crashes and I use the emergency recovery code/service.

    Now I get another token or download a token app again and my phone crashes again or lose the token again.

    Will I be able to recover from that as well?

    The emergency code is to remove the token, nothing more. Once removed the code is no longer valid (as the token won't be on the account any more) and if you activate a new smartphone token you'll get a new code.

    Nice. I heard it referred to as a "one time recovery code" so I was worried that you can only do it once.
    I wonder, can you use the software token, remove it, and then use it once again on the same phone?

    I know the hardware tokens are useless after used and removed once.

    "One-time" in the sense that the code is only valid for a single use, and therefore cannot be compromised.
