    Ormuco's answer to the Lag

As some remember I found that SE middleman was Ormuco and i called them about the 90k/lag problem since the pings became higher when we entered their Server

Well I finally got answer even though it wasn't the one we wanted

They said that they opened an internal ticket with SE because the problem is not on their side, so time to wait MORE lol

Lul. So another game of passing the blame on others. I've suspected that the 90k thing wasn't SE's fault. Otherwise, everyone would be affected. (I've seen it happen in another game.)

It's probably the routes taken. Like I'm not getting any of the connection-related errors, lag or whatever and I reach the same SE servers the people who are.

So that comes right back to
    a) Throttling
    b) Bad network gear/paths
    c) Overloaded

Now here's where I think people aren't thinking about how things work... Those last two IP addresses likely aren't what we think they are. The second to last IP address is likely a firewall/gateway in the data center's cage, while the last IP is likely a virtual host on a physical host, and they have the option to rotate the virtual hosts to different hardware depending on load. Alternatively the last IP could be the physical server itself, but then that means the server itself is reaching some hardware defined limit.

The EU/Oceanic lag is easily explained away because of the trans-atlantic and trans-pacific undersea cables are expensive routes and ISP's avoid sending traffic over the most expensive link in favor of the cheapest (even if longer) link. This explains problems like Cogent's capacity backbone, but not why even people on the same continent have their traffic directed through some illogical routes.

My traceroute is Vancouver (Shaw communications) - Seattle (Tata Communications) - Chicago (Tata communications) - Montreal (Tata communications) - Ormuco (192.34.76.2) - Ormuco (Eidos 199.91.189.234) - 199.91.189.42 ( Excalibur 's server)

There are people on the same server and FC's that several people will report lag and another set will not. That again goes back to routing issues, not SE.

    Finger pointing all the way.
