Easiest DPS to play for the lazy?

People are equating being able to dps while moving as being easy. That is easy as far as time on target goes, but doesn't equate to being the easiest dps. You have to watch your buff bar for procs, watch dot uptime so you don't clip or let them expire, watch healer mana, watch cast bars for interrupts, watch your 6 buff cooldowns, all while watching your positioning and making sure foe is up for your casters.

BLMs have to worry about positioning, cast time, and managing their cooldowns. They don't have to have near as much situation awareness.

being able to dps while moving DOES equate to being easy, if you cant understand that you're a fool.

bards have to watch buff bars? guess what, so do both melee dps.

bards have to watch dot uptime? guess what, so do both melee dps. fortunately for bard, both their dots are the same duration so really you only have to keep track of one. however, dragoons and monks have dots in the 2nd and 3rd slots of combos, which also have positional requirements. so really, "watching dot uptime" is a joke for a bard compared to a drg/mnk.

bards have to watch healer mana? does this even count? because in any content that you wouldnt be using ts/vent for there is no need for watching healer mana, and in any content that you would need this i guarantee you someone will tell you to play the song. i can see your response now, "a good brd will play the song without being told to" to which i reply - good job, you can accomplish a menial task that a monkey could do as well.

bards have to watch cast bars for interrupts? yeah, 5 second long cast bars that other classes could interrupt as well, it's just EASIER for a bard to do it. which is the entire point of this thread. EASY.

bards have to watch buff cooldowns? well lets compare that to mnk/drg again because mnk/drg have buffs that are contained within combos and have positional requirements. do bards buffs have those same requirements? NOPE! wow sure looks like bard is easy still...

bards have to watch their positioning? um...SO DOES EVERY SINGLE OTHER CLASS. however, bard can "watch their positioning" while still being able to dps unlike other certain classes that are coming to mind which have to watch their positioning AND move back to the proper position again immediately after any sort of movement.


bards are easymode plain and simple.

Watch out, BRDs will come out the woodwork exclaiming "jealousy" or "SE made us this way so it's OK".

Personally I don't really mind that BRDs are overall OP, it's how blindly and fanatically they defend themselves -not- to be, despite proving otherwise time and again.

BRDs hands down are the easiest DPS to play. BLMs a second.

However, even if they are easier, a good one will still outshine anyone else.

1. I clearly stated target up time is easy on the bard, no need for a personal attack. Keep it civil please.

2. I understand melee has to watch buff bars. I also understand melee is more difficult to play. I clearly was comparing to the BLM.

3. Again, clearly wasn't saying anything about melee. One thing I didn't mention because it doesn't always apply is that bards stack dots on several mobs to get more procs. Just worth mentioning in regards to maximizing potential.

4. Watching mana bars is just something bards have to do. Whether it is menial or not is irrelevant when listing things bards are doing during battle.

5. Again, a cumulative list of stuff bards have to do. Interrupting by itself is easy.

6. I'm aware other classes have buff cooldowns and I was clearly not comparing to melee. Cumulative and all that again.

7. Yes, bards have to watch their positioning. Not really much to say here. I clearly implied from the get go attacking while moving was a bard strength.

I understand individual things bards do are easy, individual things any class does I could break down and say is easy as well, it is the cumulative nature of a dps/support class that makes them more difficult than a BLM. I could say the same about SMN, but they do some support as well.

I think the band wagon got jumped on against bards because they do level easily, not as easily as a summoner/scholar but close. They can also be played adequately by just running your two dots and spamming heavy shot/straighter shot. Adequate though isn't optimal. Lastly, melee always has a chip on their shoulder against ranged. This is justifiable, melee does have a rougher time of things. Not as bad as in some games though.
