Join the large group of people complaining about lagspikes. There have been numerous thread about it in the technical support section. I'm still having issues with it, to the point that I took an almost week long break from it. Because I couldn't farm tomes or complete some quests that require me to fight something...

You are by far not alone, a LOT of people are suffering from constant latency issues, making the game more or less unplayable, and the problem is at SE's hands, or rather their CA data centers.
This problem has lasted for soon two weeks, and for many its getting worse as time goes by.

At the moment 1.0 servers where a lot more stable which is realy sad considering 2.0 would have new server structure and all that.
