Tanks need more benefits to be tanks I agree. They did it with healers by giving them a free mount at level 30.

im a tank and would never do that to people. I enter, I expect to be there till the end.
THey need to change it so all reqard do not actually drop to you after lotting till the end of the dungeon.
This is mostly relevant to the title, rather than the OP's experiences:
I've come across tanks who take their near-instant queues for granted and proceed to troll people by purposely joining and withdrawing from queue over and over again. I would really love a limit to how many times you can join/withdraw within a certain period of time.
Actually I suspect that may be a bug. Seen it happen so many times on tanks, healers and dps. This is mostly relevant to the title, rather than the OP's experiences:

If that is the case, then I'll take back what I said. But from my experience it has always been the tank that withdraws, and how I know this is because I'm mostly in party with a healer and another dps.
For me, the most seen "withdraw" are dps. Even with 2 tanks 2 healers 3 dps from same LS. So my best bet is the DF got overloaded by queues and ppl get dropped

When FFXIV was released, it seemed to me like there was a real shortage of Healers. I was happy to already be lvl.50 WHM. Queues were instanteneous! Now there's plenty of healers and a real shortage of tanks.
I have since taken up the sword & shield and even the 2-handed axe.
Queues... Instantaneous... LOVIN' IT.
I don'T understand why there aren'T more tanks, it'S a really fun class, paladin or warrior. Not to mention you are usually greeted as great champion/hero/celebrity* when you join. It's a great class if you enjoy leadership roles. And maybe this is why there aren'T many tanks considering there can be alot of pressure as a new tank.
-You gotta memorize the map
-Prioritize/Mark the right mobs (When applicable)
-Explain Sub and Main Boss tactics
-Be generally gallant exercising patience
I rarelly have any trouble having talented DPS or Healer**
I don'T know if this is factual or not but, whenever I use the duty*** finder, I always tick "Join Instance in progress" and I click all four language options. I think it does help giving you more chances to join an instance.
I wish there was a way help people of my server only if I choose with the DF. It would help make lasting relationship or create bitter rivalries... Either would do.
*Minus the DUIs
**Kindly Remind a guy called One Way that Cleric Stance in no way improves healing
***Duty means poop
In a closed society where everybody's guilty, the only crime is getting caught.
In a world of thieves, the only final sin is stupidity.

Yep. Queued for an hour for story Garuda. Tank makes a smiley emote then leaves. Leaving us all trapped in the barrier. I was raging. This is mostly relevant to the title, rather than the OP's experiences:

Tanks need to stop feeling entitled to be dicks. Last stats from SE showed 20% players were healers and 24% were tanks.

Suck it guys, you are not the most important.
That's what happens when you roll DPS. Learn to live with the choices you make.
Run instances with friends, FC, LS, random parties made through your server, etc... You can't control what others choose to do with the DF, DF comes with pros and cons.
Again, you chose to roll the most popular role. Deal with it.
Not SE's fault majority of you only want to be the MAD DEEEEEPS YO'
Tanking is really fun, challenging, rewarding, etc... I, for one, wouldn't do like the tanks you are talking about, because I am rich from crafting and gathering, but it is fully their right to do so. Tanks get pooped on from 15-50, even moreso in end-game, and I'm glad some of them are finding a way to get back at the rude DPS. Again, I don't have a problem with DPS or heals, but from what I hear in my FC, the bad tanks really get pooped on.
