iirc exp is based on the synced level.

What it's looking like is that, while the numbers you'll see are always relative to what level you currently exist as, the "progress along your bar" is kept as you level up and down, so if this kill is say 1% of your XP bar, and you're a level 40 in a level 20 dungeon, the XP you gain for the kill is 1% of that level 20 XP bar, and when you synch back up, your bar is still 1% further along, which is actually much more XP than the number you earned in the level 20 dungeon, but you earned that 1% in an "on par" challenge, since you were synched to be "on par," so while it's not exploitive for running over a lower level dungeon, there is certainly an opportunity to pick and choose from mechanics you love or hate across many dungeons.
If I'm right, this will bode well for the random dungeon feature forthcoming...
But people will still bail on Qarn like mad.![]()

That's unfortunate, though not surprising, and begs the question "why would anyone only interested in one job ever return to a lower level dungeon?"
I've never heard a single "good review" of Qarn. Mark my words, when the random dungeon feature comes in, there will be threads on top of threads asking for harsher deserter penalties (won't/shouldn't happen) and nerfs (more likely) to this dungeon.
Anyway, getting off topic here, was just musing about that dungeon and the potential for future problems with random dungeon rewards... based on copious experience (*cough*Oculus/Halls of reflection*cough*)
It does not work like this. The exp you see is the exp you get. Try doing a lv15 dungeon, you'll barely move your exp bar at all, whereas a lv15 would get nearly an entire level.
