    Problems I foresee with pvp

    I didn't get a chance to test pvp for the brief window it was supposedly open for, but I can imagine what problems there might be. Now I know there will be seperate abilities specifically for pvp, but the main problem I foresee happening right now is the usefulness of tanks. I was a heavy "pvp'er" in SWTOR and a big fan of their tanking system. The tanks there allowed you to place a guard on a person to divert 50% of their dmg to yourself. This way the tank could negate the focus fire of the opposing team well enough for the healers to save the player getting hit. Your team would be essentially useless without a tank in a scenario as such.

    In this game however, the closest thing you have to something like that is the PLD's cover, but that lasts for 12 secs and is on a 2 min cd. Unless they implement some cool new skills for tanking, I do not foresee many serious teams running tanks.

    In FFXI's PvP Provoke would make a target unable to target anyone but you. It'd auto lock them on. I foresee similar functions here.

    Melee is gonna be gimp as hell, all I know. Ever tried to hit a moving mob in the game? Yea you can't, animation starts but ends immediately etc. etc. Now try to hit someone moving, and bobbing, and weaving, and jumping behind you and...hahah gonna be the bard/smn/blm show when pvp hits. Melee stay home.

    I hope its come a long way since phase 4 because that looks like a joke. Theyre changing skills for pvp so sleep/stun better be on like a 30 sec cd or something because spammable sleep is retarded. Not to mention the classes arent balanced in any way for pvp, so Im sure it was pushed back for them to change up skills and balance it out. crossing my fingers for 2.1

    The devs have stated that PvP-specific skills will be added, which allows them to balance PvP and PvE more or less independently. I don't see the point of this thread. P4 PvP was explicitly shown as a demo without any of said skills implemented, obviously it was completely unbalanced.

    I wouldn't be surprised if they took the same approach to this that FFXI did and extend melee range a bit in PvP.

    PvP is never gonna work unless they fix the latency issues and the problems with melee attacks connecting.
