Where do i start to gear up ?

So yesterday i finally turned level 50 on my monk and i was wondering how do i gear myself up ?

I thought i should look up for crafting gear of item level 50-55 and then start farming those Philosopher stones for even better gear but maybe someone can give me some better advice.

Is it also good to start the "A relic reborn" quest even if i'm running around in trash gear or should i wait till i got some proper gear ?

What i also wanted to ask where do we get those Mythology Tomestones ?
I couldn't find anything about it.

farm some tome of philos at CM (100 each completion) buy some piece of darklight gear at revenant toll, do Amdapor Keep to cap your tome of mytho (300 each week, 40 each completion), if your weapon still suck do Wanderer Palace or buy pre-relic weapon or buy GC weapon or do Ifrit HM (the easiest HM)

Amdapor Keep is a bit dps check, if you are confident on your skill, go do it with AF but expect some ppl will flame you because of some gear check crap

I agree with what oceanlord said, but I'd like to clarify a little on an order to do them in:

1: Get an item level 55 weapon. This can either be a grand company weapon, a drop from Wanderer's Palace, or an HQ level 55 crafted item (for you, it'd be Wildling's Cesti. Interesting to note is the bloody cesti covers to craft it drop from Wanderer's Palace.) If you go crafted, it MUST be HQ or it will be significantly less useful than the other two.

2: Get some armor better than AF. Drops from Wanderer's Palace can do this (For you it'd be the Sipahi set,) or you can get a crafted item level 55 set (Militia set, it'd be the militia subligar, caligae, harness, mitt gauntlets, and barbut, as well as the imperial operative wristlets and choker). Of these, I'd prefer the crafted set as you can convert them into high level materia. You may also run Wanderer's Palace and CM to get tomestones of philosophy, then start getting darklight. I'd start with the accessories, mostly the bracelet and ring as you won't see other upgrades to these for a long time. Alternatively, if you have three well geared friends, you can skip this step.

3: Start running Amdapor. Due to the weekly cap, you kinda want to hit this phase ASAP. In addition to getting both types of tomestones, your level 60 set drops here. For you it's the Peltast set, which covers the 5 main slots, waist, earring, choker, and ring. Most players ahead of you will already have all the gear from here they want, so chances are you'll even be able to greed on other sets no problem, which makes gearing up your other jobs a snap down the line. Now, the mythology tomestones can be used for your item level 90 gear. I recommend beginning with your accessories, while you use darklight to fill out your main slots for the time being.

4: Once you can start running Amdapor, you should also start your relic quest. If using a crafted level 55 weapon to fight with, keep in mind you'll need a second one for the quest. You should be able to defeat Chimera and Hydra, hopefully, and move on to Ifrit. This is where you get your item level 60 weapon, and can be considered on par with Amdapor as a result. If you'd like, you can farm him until you get your claws, but it's not essential for the next part. You'll next move on to Garuda, and you should definitely have a significant portion of your armor 60+ by this point. She drops the level 70 weapons, on par with the darklight set. You should farm her for your weapon, especially if you don't have the weapon from Ifrit, and get a significant portion of your gear 70+ before facing Titan. Titan also drops level 70 weapons, but is quite a bit more painful.

5: Once you can farm AK and have your relic, you can basically keep farming mythology tomestones until you can get a full level 90 set. With darklight and a relic it might be possible to do Binding Coil by then too... but first you'll need quite the competent group.
