I did all the quests in 1.0 mainly for the exp kind of remember this guy. I am one of those people who just skips most of the quest text so I don't remember the story with him at all.

Have you unlocked the inn during 1.0?
the quests that unlock the inn in every city were the first quests with Hildibrand.
