I don't see how this is a bad thing. Teleporting and botting characters were and are making it so that the time investment for crafting was horrible.

Banning RMT doesn't solve that root issue though. Plenty of legitimate players do it too. If they take the same laissez faire attitude towards craft/fish/gather botting as they did in XI it means gathering and crafting will never, ever be worth doing for someone who actually, you know, plays the game.

Quite unfortunate given that the crafting system is the only unique thing they've done in this MMO.

Pretty much as KiriA500 said. The demand for base materials that are usually botted is still the same. But there were a lot of bots that DID get banned in the purge. So following the laws of supply and demand, when demand is higher than supply, the price of goods WILL go up. Maybe the OP doesn't understand how the RMT people were making their money to begin with?

I'll never complain about the intent, but I do think it's legitimate to complain about the efficacy of what they've done.

They ban a bunch of RMTs and probably a bunch of buyers, that's nice.

They didn't solve the botting and teleport issues.

Chat log still unreadable because of RMT spam and lots of RMT still running around ruining the game.

Game's economy will still go in a gutter.

They managed to ban a bunch of legitimate players or confiscated a massive amount of their gil even though they earned it legitimately while they did it.

So basically they are so hard-line against RMT that they're willing to punish innocent players for it, but they also didn't even manage to fix the issue. I've seen ineffective rule enforcement and I've seen overzealous rule enforcement, but it's kinda impressive to be both overzealous and ineffective.

Here is some news for you, people who are not selling items are only falling for the false info that you will be banned just for having a lot of gil.

Prices on my server dropped because no one has gil after the bans.

The reason for price dropping on my server is because there is so many people who actually craft more than doing the dungeon stuff, therefore, the supply is high and demand is low. People keep undercutting each other which led to the the drop in prices.

What you are complaining about just shows how much gil farmers were really running your economy.

Prices only go up and should go up when demand is high. It looks like the gil farmers on your server were providing all the crafted materials because you have lazy players on your server not willing to contribute to the community.

This is true. I've made over that 8 mil gil limit that people are complaining about selling stuff and I didn't get banned. It's probably because I wasn't hoarding gil too. I was spending it all the time.
