I did this, just nice to have both. Some of the other job quests (if you pick summoner, then scholar is what i'm talking about here) can be a bit rough since your stats and gear are tuned to the other one. Unless you gear up that one too, that is. Even if you really never plan to play it, its good to have the option, and all you really have to do are some extra job quests every five levels.
