Many people consider DoH or crafting in any MMO as just a means to an end. To make money to support their main class. For some though, crafting is sometimes the main part of the game. Scanning the market, finding those sweet spots and cashing in.

Now I know that this game is not supposed to be FFXI 2.0. But that doesn't mean that certain functions cannot be carried over. FFXI had a couple things that worked, and worked very well. One of those things being end-game viability for crafters.

As it stands now, crafters have no end-game viability. No one buys the iLv 70 gear because they just farm their DL/Relic gear and call it a day. In FFXI, this was not the case. Yes you could get buy without buying/making crafted gear, but there were some pieces that just made things easier. But a crafter couldn't do it alone. Certain BiS pieces had to be created from rare drops from NM's and bosses. So there was some nice synergy going on between crafting and end game content.
