    Healer Aggro (CNJ)

Im only 28 and just did the thousand maws of toto-rak, and i found myself getting aggro on the adds and the bosses.

The tank kept asking me what i was doing.

I wait for them to get hurt enough so i do not overheal to much, i do not start healing as the fight starts. I do not spam medica (unless its needed). It is mainly me using cure.

It is just not this dungeon but most.

    Am i doing something wrong?

It sounds like the tanks you've run with have no idea how to hold aggro. Generating aggro on mobs isn't just flash once and done. There's a lot more to it. As a CNJ, I had no problems healing without pulling mobs off tanks as long as I was conservative with my heals. If you that you're pulling mobs off the tank, ask him to use flash a bit more liberally and also to rotate through mobs instead of focussing on only the main one. Tanks need to be constantly rotating through mobs to ensure that they're top aggro of all of them.

If it's a marauder tank wait til you see 1-2 overpowers. If it's a glad tank then their aoe threat (at that lvl) might be a bit shaky. Tanks need to rotate thru mobs, but if you do get threat run to the tank (watch aoe) and not away.

You shouldn't really be pulling aggro that easily with a few cures. I've been on runs where it feels like everything i do pulls something. It's just sometimes more to do with inexperience of the Tank than yourself. Of course if you are not timing your heals or you have regen up when adds spawn the Tank can't be blamed for that. But i've seen a few who think that using a provoke at the start then just DPS'ing is enough to hold aggro from everything. The difference between a poor to average Tank and a good Tank is that the good one can tell instantly they have lost aggro and you have to go out your way to pull from them with a chain of heavy heals.

I've had this where the tank misses the linked mobs with the initial attack. He thinks he has hate because all the mobs are on him but as soon as I hit the first cure they all make a b-line for me as he hasn't actually hit them.

I haven't levelled a tank yet so I'm in no position to judge but I guess a good old Flash-spam will solve the problem??

Yeah, I've been levelling purely through dungeons and the hunting log from 15 to 41 as a Paladin. Pulling with Shield Lob and then using Flash two times as the other enemies in the pack approach is more than enough to establish initial enmity on the pull. Of course, you'll then have to regularly rotate between targets with your usual Fast Blade > Savage Blade > Rage of Halone combo, or spam Flash until you run out of mana. A technique that usually has served me well has been to first do a full combo on the primary target, then Fast Blading it again, Savage Blading the secondary target, Rage of Halone on the primary, then repeat for the third target. Of course, it also depends on how good/bursty the DPS is. Sometimes I can afford immediately building single-target enmity on secondary targets, other times I'll have to wait until I've gotten a good lead or until the first target is almost dead. Need to adapt to the rhythm of the group, as cheesy as it sounds.

That said, Paladin aggro is kind of depressing until lvl26 where you finally get Rage of Halone. We also don't get our actual tanking stance until lvl40, as well.

Be proactive and cast repose (if you have it or something like it, I don't know all the classes yet). I keep the aggro bar near my avatar on the screen, and if I see orange/red aggro, I drop repose on that mob. Ideally, your team will leave mobs alone that are not being addressed by the tank. I have found aggro to be less problematic at 35 than I did beforehand.
