"My Friend's account got hacked" Social Help Thread.

Well, it hit me real hard now.

Good JP LSmate/Friend got Hacked yesterday. She sms from JP to 2 of my SG friends about the incident, so they kicked her.

Now the bot is still mining in East Shroud. Apparently, JP CS is the same as their NA/EU counterparts (-_-...

It seems like the hackers will choose a time namely, late Friday or early Saturday to strike, get whatever they wanted, use bots to gather stuff if you are leveled enough, if you don't have any gathering jobs, they use you as Gil sell spam bots.

So I guess she need to wait till at least JP Monday afternoon, before the account will be disabled.

I guess I need to go mpk her Char at East shroud now. To save it from further humiliation...

This happened to a FC mate of mine earlier this week. Luckily he was hacked in the middle of the week so support could be contacted and the account could be restored.

My advice to everyone is if you don't have a security token get one ASAP. Also, be careful which fansites you visit, many have been compromised. The same day my FC mate got hacked, I visited a fansite and a keylogger was picked up on my system by my antivirus.

My girlfriend was hacked last week. She managed to reclaim her account two hours afterwards because the hackers didn't bother to change her password. Unfortunately, the damage was done- she had not lost any gil or items, but they used her account as a gil spam bot. She made several shouts so that people would know that she was no longer under gil spammer control... and then she was kicked off. Enough people had reported on her when she was under hacker influence that SE had suspended her account. She managed to talk to an SE representative immediately, but even so, she's still waiting to log back into her character.

I also recommend getting a security token or to download the security app. Additionally, I too have been warning against going onto any sites that haven't been officially sanctioned by Square-Enix. Even wiki sites seem to be potentially dangerous, as the only websites my girlfriend had gone onto were wiki sites.
