Battle Effects

Dear Everyone.
I have scoured the internet in search for a solution (or solutions, if you may) and have - after about a week - still not come up with a fix for my problem, which is as follows: Despite tinkering with just about every graphical and/or character setting i am unable to enable my battle effects - or to be more precise. Even though they ARE ENABLED, they aren't showing. Neither are whisps or that little bubbly graphic on pic-up items (e.g. fossils or something of the sorts).

Does A N Y O N E have an idea what could be wrong beyond the obvious? (yes, i have updated drivers and all that...). I am playing on a laptop with the following stats:

Intel(R) Core i5 3210i, 2,5 gHz
8 GB Ram
Windows 8, ver. 6.2.9200 Build 9200
AMD Radeon 8750M
Intel(R) HD Graphics 4000

Please help.. It's effecting me bad enought to not want to play any more (it wouldn't if it was never there, but i know it is and i want it oO)

It seems that there have not been any further posts about this concern being an ongoing issue. Because of this, we are considering it to be resolved.
