Some of them are damn funny, though. And some of them are rather dirty, too.Entering a dungeon doesn't change your default chat mode. If you want to change the default to party, you have to do so yourself.
The pop-up chat balloons you see (with tiny text) are NPCs talking. Little random bits of flavor text. That's all those balloons show up for, you can't enable them for anything else, and that text doesn't show up in any chat log.
