Self entitled players

Am I the only one seeing a very angry bunch of self entitled players trolling these forums?

I have been reading through threads and replies from the developers, which are very informative and constantly updated, and yet all I see is "WE WANT THIS NOW OR ELSE" and "THIS IS TOTAL JOKE" etc etc.

First off, the game is free, it costs less than the price of a bus ticket to pick up on Amazon, and has no monthly fee, so you really are not owed anything yet.

Second it is a BEAUTIFUL game that clearly has had years of work put into it's art and development, yes it has a tonne of issues, but as the dev's clearly explain, the fixes are coming, and content is rolling in.

Third, no one, at all, for any reason, no matter how much you pay, has any right to demand things from game developers. They are putting their vision down into action, not your visions. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's bad, but that doesn't mean a tonne of work was not done.

Would be great if people on these forums could get off their little self entitled clouds and suggest things in a civil manner, instead of being total jackasses about the whole thing.

Feedback is great, suggestions are fantastic, but as soon as you use the word demand in your threads, you lose any credibility, as you simply have no right to demand anything.

I think there is nothing better for developers than constructive feedback, as they are only human much like the rest of us, and really do believe people should post their experiences and thoughts about changes etc, and suggestions for additions to the game, but keeping it civil, and not being so self righteous about the whole thing.


Am I alone in thinking this?

No, you are not alone. I think it almost everytime I open a thread in this forum. But I doubt putting a thread of its own up for this will help. It will only turn into another arena for trashthrowing, complaining and argument. And that's the last thing we need.

I agree fully Leowilde, but it was more of a case to clutch at a straw that at least some people are grateful for what they have. I am slowly losing faith in the human race, but this is mainly due to coming from WoW and having no further patience with the diabolical community there.

Well, if it's any comfort, it's mostly the negative voices that ring loudest. It's always like that, everywhere. And they cheer each other on, until people think the game is worse than it actually is. But they are the minority, loud voices or not. Pay them no attention, and they will fade in time. Enjoy the game, and the people who make it worth it.

Personally I am loving it. Have grinded up to level 31 THM in a week, and also have ALC at 19, CON20 and various others too. Did an awesome grind party last night in Nanawa Mines gaining 3 levels and having a tonne of fun cleaning the place up, am part of the most fantastic, friendly, helpful and awesome guild, and am enjoying doing things at my own pace.

I am not being a fanboy or anything though, I just think some people start spitting fire before they actually see the bigger picture. Glad to see im not the only one thinking it though

That's great! THM rank 31 in a week... that's impressive! I am THM 34 now, spent all the time since September 2010 on that one lol. I'm probably more casual than you. If you weren't on a different server, and already in another LS, I'd invite you to mine.
I was unlucky enough to choose the wrong server when I started out - I didn't check them beforehand, I just chose one. Now I'm stuck on a mainly Oceanic server, when I'm on GMT timezone, and most people there speak Japanese. But it's too late to change character, as I've grown rather attached to mine by now.

I landed in a wonderful guild, that is mainly US, but has some brits in like me too (even though I live in Paris). Wouldn't trade it for the world But thank you. So far I spent the entire weekend playing, and roughly 4 hours every other night, in which time I have found out so much about the game. I am hoping even those that have sworn never to return since the beta would at least give it a try, as I really hope this game continues on.

I hope so too. And I can't see why it wouldn't. Give it still a few months, then let them return - I am in no doubt they'd be pleased with the changes.

Indeed! I'm surprised no one asked SE to remove the lalafells too...they asking to change/remove everything...soon enough even the graphics will receive a removal topic with such lame excuses like "because pixeled graphics are much cooler than 3D graphics! Can't you remember Pitfall?"...

I bet community reps are having some hard time filtering all the trash that is tossed by these trolls to find the constructive feedback that sometimes pop.

I so would love if they started a "warning" system here so, over time, we would start having trolls and flamers removed from here, leaving the forum more directed to real feedback.

Personally, I would take offense to someone asking SE to remove the Lalafell.
