    Prevention

I understand that Square-Enix wants this game to be a safe and friendly environment for all that play the game, but perhaps they're going too far with that notion; Further, perhaps they're not achieving their intended goal.

-We're not allowed to send mail to non-friends to prevent RMT, though they seem to be doing just fine as they are.
-We're not allowed to use /tells in dungeons because they want to prevent harassment, though, if someone wants to harass people in a dungeon they won't use /tells, they'll do it to their face for the whole group to see; Nor does it stop them from harassing the character if they are on the same world as them(after the dungeon).
-We won't be allowed to see the names of adversaries in PvP because they want to prevent harassment, though for the main part in pvp, harassment takes place not because someone beat you (or that you beat them); More often than not it occurs as shaming ex-team mates or simply bragging about how good you think you are (and then you're called out on it).
-We're prevented from dye'ing anything but our crafted armours because they think it will dilute the intended look of everything else. If that's the case, why are we allowed to dye anything if there's a way you want everyone/everything to look?
-We're limited in the amount we can say, or how often we can speak on the forums even so far as to having to earn the right to speak at all by leveling... I have not seen a reason for this, but i do not think any excuse that is given can justify limiting your paying customers in this manner.

I'm certain there's more.. if you know of something, feel free to mention it.

Square has done a lot of good things with this game, but in their zeal to 'child-proof' this game, i believe they're both diluting the experience and not giving their customer base enough credit.

Will there be people that harass, or troll or otherwise disrupt our gaming lives? Of course there will be, there will always be those people; though, there are far fewer of those kind of people than there of us non-abusive customers, but the trolls will always stick out to us because it's human nature to focus on the different or the upsetting. The key isn't to attempt to shield our poor and 'innocent' selves from this kind of behavior, but rather give us the tools to deal with it when it happens.

Please XiV developers, give us working tools to deal with harassment or gold-sellers instead of attempting to shield us from the world as if we cannot handle it. We are all adults, and those that aren't are technically being allowed to play by their parents since minors are not allowed to have accounts; so it is the parent's responsibility to care for their children, not square's.

I would love to hear others opinions on this, even if it's detracting opinions... perhaps someone can convince me that these are good thing, or i will convince others that these are bad things, who knows.

Tbh I agree with all you've said, it's well said, no ranting either.

However, all this was brought to SE's attention from Alpha onwards it seems really they are more interested in what people Outside the game think of these systems to draw in their attention (Press and players of other games).

Dye for example seems like a huge waste, as the majority of the playerbase are all wearing undye-able gear, Yay for those man hours implementing a pretty defunct system!
/tells in dungeons is a rediculous thing to not allow, if anything I'd think it'd have more of a positive impact on harassment, as a few of the peeps out there when having issues with someone in DF would take it to tells to say something like "You need to improve on" but again there are always pricks who will just spam it in /p anyway...
The PvP Name thing actually seems like a none issue to me, it would be better if further down the line they implement some fights where you can actually see who you are fighting tho. But for entry PvP I see it ass no issue.
The Mail System as it stands is only useful for recieving things from SE, and tbh you'd have thought they'd have tied it in with Achieve awards too...I have no idea why you have a Mail System thats only good for getting items from SE, that doesn't have SE auto-mail you Achieve rewards, instead you have to trek out your way, talk to an NPC select the achieve and get the item...kinda not very well thought out really...

I'm not sure how this really prevents much of anything related to RMT. However, I think its great because in FFXI you could get a mailbox full of crap from people you don't know and spend hours getting rid of it all.

I always thought this was more of a technical hurdle since instances are on different servers and people might have the same names since they are from different servers - other issues like that.

I think this is a great idea, although I don't think "Fresh Meat" is a very original or Final Fantasyish name.

Also agree with this 100%. I'm happy SE puts limits on stuff like this along with hair color and other aspects of personalization. I don't want this game to look like the circus.

Not sure what to say about this one. I mean people say so much crap on this forums, I sometimes think SE should actually moderate more not less >.>

No, it's not a technical thing. I believe in beta 3 they did mention that this was a decision they made and /tells and other stuff during instances are just "masked" and can be turned back on if they wish. Each character has a specific hidden ID so people with the same name can be treated as separate characters, on the rare chance they both are in a DF group together.

OT: I can understand them not wanting to let us dye AF gear but I would like every other piece of gear in the game to be dye-able. It's especially weird when random unique sets have a single piece that can be dyed.

Regarding the mail system I understand the "friend list only" part (I could only imagine the RMT junk mail). However not being able to mail to my alts makes no sense, as the RMT's merely need to have more than one person involved to circumvent the alt restriction (and who does a RMT scheme solo?). Probably should lift that restriction.

I agree, let us take off the kiddy gloves if we want to at the very least. Make it optional like the chat filter.

    PVP names On / Off
    Dungeon Chat On /Off

Also we need a player kick option, i recently posted on how ppl are coming into CM and going AFK for whole run. Or even when someone dc's the party cant fill the slot.

Some non craftable items can be dyed and as an obsessive dye monger, I know this from dying them. I love the dye feature and use it a lot! Sure it would be nice if more items were dye-able, however. I see plenty of people on my server using dyed gear so at least there it is utilized, can't speak for other servers.

They posted that they intend to add a vote kick feature but are trying to decide WHEN to add it.

Also OP, it might help to submit some of your concerns to the next Letter From The Producer Questions thread now while it is open and accepting questions.
