    Gear questions

    Hi,

I have 2 questions for you guys,

First, how the gear durability decrases? I know it decrases over time but when you die, does it cut the remaining durability by 50% each time or there is some kind of other formula?

On another gear topic, I have a lot of unused gear from my lvl 1 to 20, should I sell everything that I don't use anymore or meld them or anything, what should I do with the extra gear?

    Thx a lot

Durability drops when you die, but it's nowhere near 50%. It is a small amount, but I don't know the exact amount.

You can save unused gear for leveling alternate classes. Most stuff that is below level 20-ish isn't worth keeping around solely to Spiritbond, so if you don't have a class that can use it just sell it.

Your gear "breaks" but all it means is you get no stat bonuses from it, you don't lose the gear. It is very important to make sure your weapon is repaired before doing a dungeon, even if you are a healer as the strength of a majority of actions are determined by your weapon.

If you keep on top of your durability you should never ever see it break, even while wiping many times in a dungeon.

Durability will also decrease as you use actions. I've had gear break on me while running FATEs and crafting where there were no deaths. I am not certain about the exact rate though.

I don't believe it's on actions, you lose durability whenever you gain XP (this includes being capped at level 50, you still gain XP it just doesn't get shown since you are capped).

It's important to remember this if you decide to run dungeons like Castrum Meridanum where you might have to defeat a lot of enemies.

With normal actions, you only lose durability on equipped items. When you die, you lose some durability even on items carried in your armour chest or inventory.

You can't sell it if you've used it. It's bonded to you. Your options are to convert it to materia (if you've reached the point in the story where you learn that), dropping it, or putting it on a retainer in case they add new classes.
