How does it make no sense? I even explained it in the next half of the sentence that you quoted. :P I don't repair until stuff is nearly broken because then I don't have to worry about spending money on gear the I'll potentially replace.

I'm not offering this advice as a max level (where repairing your gear anytime you run into the guy is a decent idea), but as a low level where gear gets replaced fairly quickly and where the only other thing to reasonably spend your money on is teleporting because that's what the OP is.

Also I should of mentioned am lucky if I can get 15hours game play a week ATM so don't really want to spend ages running round, I doubt I'll be playing game after main story, don't have time for the end game elitist stuff I just read about, also am not interest in crafting so seems like there is nothing to spend money expert teleport anyway

Well, the repair costs got fixed.
You used to pay up to 5k+ for repairs, right now it's around 1-2k depending on how "used" it is.
Gil ain't really hard to come by, seriously.

Farming CM for phylo points and then selling the crafting items for 35-40k gold makes you some easy gil.
Also getting a crafting class or a gathering one to 50 is very beneficial for some extra gil aswell.

Use teleport only when there is a LONG distance to be covered, otherwise you might aswell just mount and travel your way to your desired destination.
Before I hit 50 I used to teleport all the time, it ain't THAT crazy expensive.

I usually use it when I'm trying to quickly fill out a hunting log for something, since it has a nasty tendency to scatter your targets all over the freaking world.

I teleport 90% of time and still have plenty of gill. Only time I don't is when it is so close doesn't matter if teleport or not. Never use ferry or airships to out of the way for me.

i teleported all the way through and had 200k left when i hit 50, it would've been nice to have 250k-300k so i could've bought what i needed off the marketboard a lot faster though

Sorry to burst your bubble, but Binding Coil is part of the Main Story.

I teleport many times a day and gil reserves still growing. Minimal effort put into obtaining gil - other things take most of my time.

    Things to save some costs:
    - Free Company buff to reduce teleport cost by 20%
    - If know you'll go somewhere often, set it as Home point and use Return instead of Teleport.
    - If going to go several places, do the cheaper ones first. For example, hunting log.

    Things to make gil:
    - At lower levels, try selling some of those crafting materials that randomly show up in your bag from kills. When you find one that sells well (300+ each), go kill those monsters for 30-60 mins. That's teleport money for a good while.
    - At later levels, find something you can sell for 10k+ gil each. There are plenty of options.
    - Craft/gather. I dislike these and haven't made money off them yet, but you can if you want.
