Does being elite automatically make you right?

I do not fully understand how this chat turned into a flame war between me and a random person I was talking to in a fate group but out of the blue the statement was made he has made it to Bahamut Coil's phase 2 and therefore is right because I cannot be right since I have never played the high end of FF 14 before.

The chat was about how scholar shield's act as a form of extra hit points that are taken off first from any damage that goes through a person's mitigation mechanics. He stated that Scholar shield is mitigation that reduces damage taken. I said it is in essence extra hit points temporarily added to that of a person's life.

Does being elite automatically make you right is the question that I have been brooding over. Someone who has a gun in his hand tells another person 2+2 makes 5 should be wrong but does that power or strength associated with being a high end raider instead make the stronger one right over the weaker or newer player?

Well, I play a WAR so I don't who is right about the SCH job. Although I can relate because I fall into that WAR v. PLD issue that always seems to be propagated by baddie-fear-mongers.

I define elitests into two categories:

    1) They KNOW what they are talking about, and you should listen.

    2) they know jack$#!%, they probably fate-farmed their way to level 50 and don't have much in the ability to think for themselves because they read (in such a half-@$$ way) all those technical 'theory-crafting' data and assume that just because they learn the word "mitigation" well above their school grade level, they think they have the right to judge those who fall into a lesser category.

Take heart that 99% of self-proclaimed elitests fall into #2 (no pun intended); if playing your SCH the way you do gets you by in the game then just roll with it (but be prepared to learn from a REAL elite when the time comes to advance, or you are going to find your stall really fast).
