    Distant Worlds

Recently, a friend of mine went to go see the live Distant Worlds concert in his area. He told me that the best section of music, for him, was surprisingly the FFXIV portion. Which is strange since a lot of people complain about the music in this game being monotonous to the point they just turn off the music in most cases.

SO, I decided to do some research and listen in on some of these Distant Worlds tracks. I was pretty surprised! These live performances sound comparatively better than those that are in the game. They seem like they've been rearranged more properly as well. Did Nobou work on them more after the games' release? I remember in the 'Making of Eorzea' that he did mention something about wishing he could change a few things after seeing the finished product. Is it true that he was only given a picture of the areas before having to write the music? Did he really never get to experience the in game environments?

I'll post links here for people that would want to listen to some of Distant Worlds tracks as well.

I kind of wish that SE would decide to replace some of the current tracks with these Distant Worlds ones, then release a new FFXIV Soundtrack CD to make some money to support the game. =p

Unfortunately, those songs were all I could find from Distant Worlds, other than "Answers" which is still good, but I didn't like it as much as the original oddly enough. lol But here it is anyway. lol

the composer and QA need to listen to the tracks a couple hundred times, each time for 20min -4 hours in a loop.

The best FFXIV tracks seem to be used for the more rare events, it should be the opposite.

Hm, I actually really enjoy the Thanalan music, for starters. It's one of the few open world songs I can stand for long periods of time. I don't think they make the music thinking that some will be good and some bad or something. lol It's made for places/events/etc. I'm sure they want it all to be good. =p

Perhaps one of the differences is that the music in game is meant to be background music, and therefore not so distracting while you go about your activities -- versus these arrangements which are done for performance, are more dynamic, and therefore meant to have more impact on the audience?

Anyway, thank you for sharing these. They were really nice to listen to!

Well sadly they can't replace the songs with these specific compositions, but it would be nice.

Personally I love all the FFXIV music even the retainer ward music. It never gets boring or dull to me but people have different tastes. Some people say they miss FFXI music and to me that was the music that got dull after listening to it more than a couple times except for certain areas in the game.
