Q: Multiple Jobs on one char and the significance of GCs

My questions is this - should we be rolling separate characters for jobs that focus on different stats (ex. PLD vs WHM) due to Grand Companies catering to those stats? I'm not sure how weighted the GCs are to their respective Jobs - the reason I'm asking - but I've seen it mentioned in several different places.

    Any feedback would be appreciated!

You can change gc from what I have been told so I would think it would not matter much

As althire has said you an change Grand Companies, the requirement for this is to obtain the highest rank in your GC which can't be done until level 50. The Grand Company gear is only used for leveling another classes or vanity purposes(depending of the amount of seals you obtain you can use it in your main class as well, but nothing usefull at level 50.).

Changing Grand Companies is an option more related to complete the achievements and has no true weight in game content. So choose the one you like more.

The only major difference in GC gear is in the level 50 officer set, which is far from being the best gear in the game and can be replaced by many many many alternatives. Not only that, the entirety of those sets don't favor any class, different pieces will be good for different classes. Otherwise, GCs offer gear for all classes at all levels. Pick the one whose ideals, design, theme, color, etc. appeals to you.

Anyways, the gear offered at a GC shouldn't have too much bearing on your decision in the long run so do everything on one character.

Once you start running Amdapor Keep often and getting item level 60 gear, it will outclass the grand company gear. The main use for your GC is to get item level 55 weapons for starting off endgame with (You can get item level 55 weapons from Wanderer's Palace, or get the crafted ones made using materials from Wanderer's Palace... but it's sadly not a popular dungeon so this can be more annoying.) A secondary use for your grand company is to buy various items, like Dark Matter, potions, or crafter/gatherer xp scrolls, as seals are easier to come by than gil. You could also make use of the supply and provisioning missions for bonus crafter/gatherer xp.
