Worst spam I've ever seen!

Please tell me something is going to be done soon about all this gold spam! I can't believe nothing was in place already to prevent this. I can think of three things off the top of my head:

1. Require level 5 before you can chat
2. Character limit on chats
3. Two lines of chat before there's a brief delay

Right now spam constantly scrolls through the chat window. I can't even see if real people are talking and having conversations! I doubt blacklisting helps much, because I'm sure these gold seller accounts are constantly being created every day.

Please, for the love of all the gods, stop the spam Square!

Yeah, it was pretty bad last night. LOL I don't even know how to chat yet, but I found the blist function pretty quickly.

One thing that has been mentioned was a quick click ignore function that allows one to click the name and hit blist quickly. One that I would like to see is an auto disconnect for anyone macroing a spam message more then say, 4 times. I'd actually like one that blew up their computer, but I think that would cause some repercussions. LOL

Really? It must depend on the world, then. I've got 3 spammers in the whole day (I think I played 8 hours) playing on Shiva. My blacklist is around 40 entries.

yeah, that's what I immediately tried to do after the first spam. Then I discovered there were practically no options at all! I mean, it's a chat. What is that, a 20-30 years old technology? SE really puzzles me on some things. Don't make me start about the inventory mess, for example!! O_o

Until 2.1 (and the hopeful fixes to this issue) you can always go into your chat functions and turn off /shout and /yell; I did a week or so ago. also for the /tell spam, this macro works wonders and pops up a confirmation window with the last tell's name so you can ensure its the right name first.

But since "Shout" seems to be the only way to talk to people in your zone, you are cutting off a large part of your community.

I agree. But your suggestions could use some adjustments:

1. Getting to level 5 is fast and easy... at about level 10 is when people start to party and join FATE groups, so that might be a better requirement.
2. Character limits are fine, as long as you can still write out a decent amount of text.
3. A delay or "wait time" between messages might work, and I've seen it used in several MMOs.

It would be nice to be able to log in to the game or enter a new area, and not be bombarded with all that gold spam.

Some people have questions or want to meet up with friends or make friends as soon as they start a new game. Maybe allow Say and Tell initially, but block Yell and Shout until level 10.

It could be a relatively long delay (long enough for people to get them blacklisted anyway) between messages if it then eased off once you get into the second month of your subscription. That will minimize its affect on real players, but still hinder the spammers who aren't likely to last that long.

Chat problem fixed, no more spam, at least not at a fast rate, this will give people time to type the name into BL until click to BL is implemented. As it is now if a person is spamming you can't see their name long enough so you have to scroll chat and write it down unless you can remember it. (PS3)

As for the RMTs themselves in game mods would solve it. I can only assume SE is simply too cheap to go that route however.

Seems as how they ALSO know how to fix the RMT issues and haven't yet.

BTW here a trick I have found to "easily" blacklist users on PS3:

- Select the ID in chat
- Send tell to it
- Edit the "/tell…." line adding brackets on the id (like "evil spammer") and change "/tell" in "/blist add"

It takes a bit but it is much faster than trying to remember the name of the SOBs! ^_^
