For PC is can't say there is that much difference excluding loading times for maps.
For PS3, there have been reports of it running better on SSD.

I moved the FF14 folder from my HDD to SSD few weeks ago, but it doesn't make any noticeable difference to me.
Loading times between zones/initial loading feel the same, so I don't think SSD provides significant loading performance improvement on this game.
Perhaps it has something to do with my amount of RAM available which is 24G, but I doubt that's a factor since the HD access lighting rarely flashes during the blackened/loading screen, indicating the game is either under CPU process or waiting for server response.

I have a 250 gb SSD for installed games. Needless to say I load in instantly.
