It should be noted that mileage can very by toggling different values for the Nagling and TCP delay and such. Some ISP's will burst data anyway at the modem level, so you still wind up with a similar issue going on at your modem. It's more common with the more value-centric services that partition out service at lower speeds (like the "Lite" plans). If you are running a higher tier package, you may see some benefit with games---but it may hinder your normal file transfers as you may be interfering with the benefits of the transfer windows used by TCP that enhance larger file transfer speeds.

So if you do this, make sure to bookmark the info or print/save the details locally so you can readily reset it if you find you need to.
