In the case of the server transfer service and it requiring that you be logged out during the transfer, it was not specific or clear on what the scope of said logged out covers.

Case 1:
1 Account, 1 Character(A) on Server M and Wants to move A to Server N.

Case 2:
1 Account, 2 Characters(A & B) both on Server M and Wants to move A to Server N to play with one group of friends and leave B on Server M to stay with current group.

Case 3:
1 Account, 2 Characters (A & B), A on Server M & B on Server N. Want to move A to N so A & B is on the same server. (Incidentally really need a way to mail items to your own account, drop down should be Friends List + Character List for Server)

Case 4:
1 Account, 2 Service Accounts, 2 Characters (A & B), A on Server M & B on Server N. Want to move A to N so A & B is on the same server.


Now my guesses at the cases and would be nice for confirmation.

1: If scope is character based then would have to stay logged out.

2: If scope is server based then would still need to stay logged out as both on same server. However if character based you would be able to continue playing on other character.

3: If scope is service account based then would still need to stay logged out as you can't play any character under that subscription account. If server based should be fine only potential gotcha would be if server based included both source and destination.

4: If scope is SE account based then you would have to stay logged out no matter how many service accounts you have under the single log-in account. If scope is service account based then you would be able to play on any other service accounts under the same SE account as long as that account is not involved with a transfer in progress.
