How to Make it in Eorzea

Hi guys,

I have a Miner up to level 23 (I know, so uber). Right now, my intention is to just specialize in Mining, and use it to simply produce gil for myself. I am punching away at silver ore witha 57% gathering rate. I've been mixing some leves in here and there etc.

My main question is: My short term goal is to make 60k to buy my ridiculously expensive Battledance III materia for my PLD's Relic quest, and then obviously to be able to make a decent amount of gil or move into goldsmithing/armorer in the future. With that in mind, should I burn up all my banked leves (I have 90ish right now) to get to a certain level that will allow me to produce decent amounts of gil, or should I just keep plugging away on nodes and selling as I go up?

If you have 90 leves I'd burn some of them. Other than that I've got no advice. Only lvl 29 Miner and no money making progress yet.

Hi,
I would say start levelling gsm now with your leves. That way you can make silver ingots out the ore and sell them (on moogle silver ingots sell between 100 - 200. Get your miner up a bit too so you have better chance of getting silver ore. You can make good money with gsm, plus gsm and mining go hand in hand. Also theres a limit of 99 leves so start using them before you lose out on them

So you're saying that the combination of GSM and MIN is going to have more earning power than just focusing on Mining?

The mining markets are very tight, and often see them crashed by people just looking to off load all the items they get from leveling it. Don't expect massive profits unless you find some more niche markets and don't flood them.

As suggested, level Gsm.

Level mining with raw Jewels, polish them with Gsm.
A raw will sell for 1 gil. A polished will sell for 15+

Be warned the shards out number the raw 3:1 and 5:1 so be ready to farm lots and lots and lots of shards.

The trouble with this is, the shard farming will burn you out that much faster and you will get so sick of mining shard you won't want to level out the class.

Burn the leves on Evaluation ones. You can see evals by looking at the card in the corner of the quest. They two cards you are looking for are of women. One will be holding a basket, the other will be poke at a water dish. You could also just sell the shards from mining, since they are used constantly there is always a market for them.
