I did not think this needed a discussion because there is no justification for bullying. IMO the OP was just trying to cause trouble.

He tried to justify bullying because the player is bad. You will run into bad players, you just have to keep calm and find a solution. And yes this can mean you leaving the group if you think you won't be able to get through the content.

You can get banned for bullying if you're reported and SE takes action. SE considers just being offensive to another player as harassment.

Our Definition of Harassment

The use of inappropriate and offensive language in general, or against another player is considered harassment in FINAL FANTASY XIV and is strictly prohibited. Using offensive language for character and retainer name, or spreading the inappropriate words in the character’s first and last names is also considered harassment. All claims of harassment are evaluated on a case by case basis and the action taken can be varied based upon the situation at that time. If harassment is found, the account penalty will be issued to all players who involve in the harassment.


•The use of language that is generally considered unacceptable in a public venue
•Any language that is purposely meant to harm or harass a third party
•Any language that promotes the discrimination of any race, nationality, religion, sexual orientation or gender


There may be inappropriate conduct that does not fit into any of the above categories that may be considered harassment and as such would constitute an actionable offense.

The sadness is ; this is my 6th MMO, and this is the first community to actually have hateful rage-nerds at it's highest level of play. In my last and most recent MMO, Dungeons and Dragons online, this kind of player was ridiculed and made to feel stupid. Much like the way the rage-nerds make the casual ffxiv player feel. It kinda flip-flopped there.

I love how everyone wanted to jump down OP's throat for advocating threats/being mean
when that isn't what he said at all.

He said people should take advice when it's given to them and not get so upset when someone tells them they are performing poorly.
Being told "You aren't doing so well, try doing this or this instead, or do you know where to stand when this happens" etc is different from the incomprehensible rage some people type in.

A Nice player can easily become a mean player due to frustration levels that pop like a Warrior's Rage meeter with each Wipe that is he gault of the instructee who refuses to do what the instructor has asked.

I met a rather incompetent white mage yesterday while helping a friend with Cape Westwind.... Guiby did the following things wrong:
Wipe 1) Was in CLERIC STANCE the entire first try.
Wipe 2) Was massively overhealing the main tank and pulling massive aggro.
Wipe 3) Didn't move with the other mages to the top of the hill when we started the round by pulling mr. Gunshield to the bottom, thus auto-aggroing the adds.
Wipe 4) See Wipe 3.
------------ Got Yelled at by 3 of us and made him respond with a yes he understood
TRY 5) SUCCESS!!!

So sometimes a person needs to be yelled at to get it through their thick skull.

It is not "false expectation" to expect a level 50 to know how to play their class, sorry.

knowing everything about gear and how to a win a fight and taking the time out to help people in a polite way and show/tell them how to do things right while letting them practice when you tell them until they get it right is wasting nobody's time.

Why do people act as if good players have an obligation to help bad players but bad players do not have an obligation to spend time researching their class and learning how to play?
