High-end PC and reliable/fast internet, yet long freezes at random times.

So I basically became a part of this fantasy we all share yesterday!
I gotta begin with that I understand that the game is still in a rough phase and all that, but I just want to make clear that I'am not the only one dragging around on this issue.

What I'am experiencing are two types of issues.

1 - The game will drop in FPS at times and have a obvious slower camera rotation due to that. The resolve I've found for this is to alt-tab and wait a bit.

2 - The real issue is that at other times, the game will completely stop responding and when opening the task manager, FF is also pointing out that it's not responding. If I just watch the game instead I end up seeing minor screen changes at rare occasions, as if I was getting 0,001 FPS or something hehe. This takes much longer time to recover from as well. (20-30 +/- seconds)

I hope you're all having a blast though, as I must say that I'm impressed what the currently Dx.9 version of the game is offering on the graphical output front!

    Many thanks in advance

That sounds like a graphics issue. I'm no expert but if you haven't already tried it, do the usual: Update your graphics card / DirectX drivers. If that does not help I'd try running the benchmark (http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/benchmark/) just to see if that also wigs out. At least you'll know if its a general graphics problem with the game or something specific to the game client itself.

Sometimes it can be the smallest of things: Like having a program running in the background that conflicts with FFXIV. Try terminating anything and everything you could possibly think might have an issue with the game. (Like Fraps or Voicechat overlays - I'm looking at you TS!)

If the problem persist theres only one way: Contact SEs customer support.

I hope you get it sorted out and you'll get to play with the rest of us!

are you running the game in fullscreen with two graphic cards ? i am having the same problem with SLI enabled since the game !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!STILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!! <- sorry for that... doesnt support sli, the game gets lagg -ish, and freezes.. if you dont use sli, try running couple tests for overheating components, update drivers, make sure you have no viruses in PC and the usual stuff,

Some hardware info might help. Some have come across specific issues with specific components that might have a fix for you to try.

There's something going on in advance of tonight's maintenance - I've gone from occasional screen freezes and two or three 90K errors a day for the last few days to a 90K error every 10 to 20 minutes tonight.

It's not graphics card related I'm running multiple games simultaneously - the other games keep cruising along while FFXIV hangs and implodes. I've been downloading large files which maintain download speed when FFXIV is showing no communication. SE's server and net code is taking a dump again plain and simple.

My Father had this issue with games - the solution was to disable the Desktop Window Manager Session.

    To do so:
    1) Open the start menu and search "services.msc".
    2) In the services menu, find "Desktop Window Manager Session".
    3) Set the startup type to "Disabled".
    4) Restart your PC.

If that doesn't work, you can change it back by going through the same steps but changing the startup type back to what it was.

Just to cover what has been said in other threads *deep breath*
1: FPS drop && (crash || 90000 error) = Networking issue, Update network drivers or disable TOE && LSO
2: FPS drop && !(crash) depending on area = Lower your video card settings
3: crash (c0000005) && black screen = Bad video hardware (overheating, bad ram) or insufficient power (Power management or weak PSU), or software conflict (update drivers first)
4: Router crash = Bad router firmware/networking driver
    5: SLI/Crossfire doesn't work = Update your graphics drivers

The network issues have something to do with TTL being set wrong or something, so it's attempting to resend packets and just overloading. You can see the evidence of this when people post traceroutes and one hop always drops packets.

The video issues are usually solved by updating the drivers for most people. If you've installed EVGA Precision X, MSI Afterburner, or any variety of Video card overclocking and monitoring tools, turn those off, or at least update them.
