seriously, if someone thinks he needs help with his addiction he'll find a way to get helped.
but noone will seek help for his addiction on a gaming board.
good intentions OP, but just not the right board to have a discussion about addictions.

btw asking for a thread to be closed is against the rules, if you truly believe this should be done, report the thread and ignore it. Also, do not expect it to be closed (if they consider it really should) at this time, the managers are usually active a few hours from now.

I find it funny that the whole conversation started because JackDaniels said that Gaming Addition is a horrible thing and should be controlled. JackDaniels who has been on his computer everyday making posts about gaming addiction. What is the difference between playing a game or posting on forums? You are still on your computer. People need to blame something for bad events that I do believe happen because ones "Technological" addiction, but it is the persons choice on what actions they take, don't blame something just because its there. Otherwise I should blame the people that distilled and made the Alcohol that sold it to the bar that sold it to the guy that got in his car and killed my parents in a car wreck.

Many people around this forum are more addicted to being right (about their/others' opinions, nonetheless) than being addicted to gaming or FF14.
It doesn't matter if you come in posting trying to have a casual laid-back discussion or not. Most people around here are defensive & will snap and quote any comments for the sake of argument alone.

It's no better than the metal heads trying to argue what the heaviest bands are. At the end of the day it just doesn't exist outside of opinion.

Live your life the way you want. If anyone else has a problem with it, they can go QQ. Life is all about experiences and some have to learn the hard way before they can understand.

I think the OP should've expected negative feedback from the way that he introduced his post.

even the truly addicted can still say "I can quit when I wanna!"
and not every forum goer is game addicted. Some attend the forums more than the game, and that's a different beast altogether.

There is no difference between posting on the forums every day all day and playing every day all day. The only time i've brought up gaming addiction on a forum ever was today, i dont know where you get every day from. I barely play ffxiv anymore, and I use the forums even less. People if you don't have anything constructive to post in this thread then stop it. This isn't a debate over the legitimacy of this addiction. Stop attacking my character while you're at it.

Yeah i know that, but i still have limitations on the things I can and cannot eat, due to the illness. Its not ruling my life at all, but it still comes with a list of rules.

For sure, I agree. My life still has rules as well. I have to avoid loud and chaotic places, take medication on a daily basis, keep my stress levels relatively low. But glad to hear are keeping the illness in check

My intent is not to flame people so I apologize for my hostility. It just bothers me that people are attacking Jack when all I've seen is him make an attempt to help people.
