If we all had to be perfect to try and make this world a better place, the world would be much worse than it is right now. If you want to be afraid of people calling you a hypocrite and end up making no efforts to improve the world around you as a result, that's your choice. It's always the do nothings who criticize those who actually push this world forward out of jealousy and resentment, but it's people who DO without FEAR of reprisal, knowing their imperfections that make this world better. You choose what you want to do, but at the end of the day if even one person does something about their gaming addiction because of Jack's post, then he's made the world a better place... and what have you done for all your nay saying and undermining of a not a self righteous effort, but a truly righteous effort. Again, cudos to Jack.

And for those who have some kind of disorder, I was diagnosed with severe mental illness at age 21, and I've overcome it completely, and I can tell you the longer you make excuses for yourself, the longer you'll stay stuck in your situation. You can't undo your illness, whatever it is, but you can live life to the fullest no matter what your situation. And spending 12 hours a day on FFXIV is letting your life waste away, trust me in that. Cudos OP.

I guess my point is there is no official, what one person may call an addict others may not. So what makes it official? Someone who went to college and has a piece of paper with PH. D. on it?

Read the whole post Nuru. Overcoming does not equate to curing. Overcoming means ruling your own life, not letting your illness rule it for you.

Yeah i know that, but i still have limitations on the things I can and cannot eat, due to the illness. Its not ruling my life at all, but it still comes with a list of rules.

For sure, I agree. My life still has rules as well. I have to avoid loud and chaotic places, take medication on a daily basis, keep my stress levels relatively low. But glad to hear are keeping the illness in check

My intent is not to flame people so I apologize for my hostility. It just bothers me that people are attacking Jack when all I've seen is him make an attempt to help people.

Well considering you have to do intense study and research and discussion on a topic for 7+ years to get a PhD, and then spend the rest of your life doing the same, yeah I would say that makes a PhD more qualified on the subject than yourself. And besides, self diagnosis is never objective.
