Yeah, you've got the point. It's a good thing to have things that for someone would be non required. It's always a good thing to think for the sake of every players =)
Anyway, I kind of... uh... don't understand that one![]()
Hide all party player names too considering we have that info on the party list and don't need it in front of us.
I've been wanting this since I first started playing. It's a very simple request.
And really, the more UI customization, the better. It can't hurt.
I was just doing a behest with a full party and i was thinking, my god, this is just a total mess. There is names and text everywhere it's difficult to actually see whats going on.
The whole interface needs tidying up if you ask me, names need to be smaller and with options to toggle them. A lot of the information on screen could be put elsewhere.
I don't like to bring WoW up but it does have a good interface all the information is on the bottom freeing up the rest of the screen. This is how it is with most MMO's.
I would also like the chat log to fade away after a while and appear again if something is said. Im suprised the interface is still the way it is since it was the biggest complaint in reviews. I know i made this thread about just hiding own name but there is lot of other things that need to change.
Chat log does fade away been there for a while now but the rest of that stuff would help
yes the chat log does go away if it stays idle long enough
I think in general people would appreciate more detailed control over exactly what information is displayed on the HUD. If you can think of something that could potentially be displayed or not, there should be an option for it.
I would like both an option to toggle the HP bar on just my own character, and an option to change the size of the HP bars (instead of being at the mercy of how big or small the dev team thinks they should be)
I personally hate the little hp bars over my head looks stupid i can see my own hp bar just fine on the hud
I think they just want to turn off their own name as it's obvious what your own name is. It's superfluous visual real estate. HP bars are important, but honestly, every single part of the UI should be able to be toggled on/off or resized independently. There are some things, especially as a veteran XI player, that I don't need that take up a lot of space on the screen. Mini map is great, but if I don't want to see it, I can still play the game and use the main map to quickly see where I need to go. You definitely don't need to get rid of it but having the option to turn it on/off is a win-win for everyone.Hey everyone, can you give me some more details about the suggestion? Is it that you simply want an option to "hide own character name"? What about the HP bar for your character? Would that be hidden along with it, or would it need to be a separate thing? Lemme know and I'll compile your thoughts for the dev. team!
Maybe someone wants to take a screen shot of a conversation but doesn't want their name/mini-map/HP/MP/TP/Current Rank/Current Level/4 useless mouse hot-keys that controller players will never use/Calendar/Send/Receive/ or Status effects shown. Why not? As long as you can turn them back on in the configuration menu the player should be given the option, especially veteran players who know what facets of the UI are important and which ones are not, so that they can adapt their visual experience to their own playstyle.
Or maybe they just want to temporarily disable the chat log in cutscenes that repeat the exact same thing that the characters are already saying in their dialogue. The player should be given that option. There's only so much visual space on the screen for some players and not having the ability to disable a lot of these things really clutters the screen.
When I first heard that the UI was going to be completely customizable in early pre-release developer interviews, this is what I had in mind. The current customization options available are severely limited in comparison to some very old MMOs out there i.e. Anarchy Online.
Not to hijack the thread but I think the concepts are related. At the very least, there should be a keyboard command that toggles your own name off as, after 2 hours of seeing it on the screen, and always seeing it in linkshell chat from that point on, I don't think you'll forget it anytime soon.
You could put it in as an option in the config menu or just apply as you did the /display head "on/off" option.
The following is what I have in mind.
You could also just take out the "/display" and put the "/" right before the part of the UI you wanted to toggle./display chatlog1 (on/off)
/display chatlog2 (on/off)
/display rank (on/off)
/display physlevel (on/off)
/display hotkey (on/off)
/display hp (on/off)
/display mp (on/off)
/display tp (on/off)
/display time (on/off)
/display minimap (on/off)
/display selfname (on/off)
/display partyname (on/off)
/display pcname (on/off)
/display npcname (on/off)
/display enemyname (on/off)
/display names (on/off) [I know it's already there but you could use this format as well.]
/display actionbar (on/off)
Also while we're at it, make the logical extension for the rest of your gear, not just the head in the following format too:
/display body (on/off)
/display feet (on/off)
/display hands (on/off)
/display waist (on/off)
/display legs (on/off)
/display accessories (on/off) [Different ones for each slot]
