Check your Zoom options. You may have a button on your remote for it that toggles it between Normal, Wide, Cinematic, etc. One of those settings might compensate for it somehow.

Mmm yeah, if only i still had my controller...
Turn off overscan. Problem solved. So idk if this is an issue for a lot of people or if there is a setting I missed somewhere
So basically my screen is too large for my tv and the edges are cut. The things I notice are most of all the chat box, the bottom and left sides get cut off and I cant see some options. Also when there's a cutscene and I press O to skip I can barely see the options for skipping since they are cut off in the bottom right corner. Also when I'm choosing my character the info about him on the left and the server stuff on the right are cut off.
Most things I was able to adjust with the HUD layout setting but the stuff I mentioned above cant be moved.
I've looked through all my setting on my tv in the menu, I've changed my tv and hdmi outputs on my ps3 and there are really no options to change the whole screen size in game. Nothing seems to work
Is this something a lot of people are experiencing because I feel like if it was I would've seen it somewhere on the boards by now.
Any suggestions would be awesome, thanks
Don't know what overscan is? Google it.
If you have a Samsung TV set picture mode to "Screen Fit" not "16:9".
This. Thank you. Finally someone else who understands whats going on.

Hey thanks a lot for the great help guy.
Maybe if you read all the posts instead of just the original and a quick one sentence post after that YOU'D understand whats going on.
I dont have a Samsung and I already "Googled it" and its an old model without a way to turn off overscan, something I already posted which now I had to repeat because you were born an asshole.
Problem not solved
Next time read all the posts before you leave your own, but honestly I'd suggest not even going that far because I'm sure no one is going to care about what you have to say when you act like a prick

I just want to say that this thread helped me. My 60" Sony LED display was set to display auto screen size, which goes by the "recommended settings" which are of course ambiguous. I looked at the user guide, and there was an option to change it from "Auto" to +1 or -1. +1 is actually the setting that displays the image exactly as it should be, while -1 pushes more off the edge of your screen. I set it to +1, and it was a huge difference in FFXIV. All my icons were pushed inward, and when I moved them back to the edge, the edge of the screen was as far as they would go- before, they would move right off the edge if I kept going. There is a definite border now, which is what I wanted, so I expect all of the normal things that sometimes show off screen will not be able to do so now.
Also, I wondered why I didn't notice this before on other games/TV... not sure the answer, but oh well. It's set correctly now.
OP, try using your TV's menu accessed at the TV to adjust this if you can. It will help.
Unfortunately older TVs didn't allow people to adjust overscan. With people using their TV now as a computer monitor they've had to give consumers access to this setting.I just want to say that this thread helped me. I've noticed a difference in the picture of my other games since turning this off. I've always used the in game settings you adjust the screen size. However, it made the outer portion of the picture small.
Glad you got help from this thread.
Well Im glad to see at least one person is benefitting from this thread lolI just want to say that this thread helped me. Unfortunately it seems as if Ive tried everything and there are no settings to adjust the screen size through my tv, I think I just have too old of a model. Im just going to have to put up with it until I get a new tv one day. Thanks anyway
You and the other posters can check this site's forums www.avsforum.com and do a search on "service codes your tv model." It will show you how to access a whole bunch of settings that users are locked out of. I don't know if you will be able to adjust your screen size or not, but the guides and users there should be able to tell you if it's possible or not. (Just please don't tinker with any other settings!)
Hope this helps!
