    Controlling the Market

    Two questions:
First- Is it against the rules to control market prices? From what I saw on my server, RMTs basically bought up all the shards on the market, set a price & threshold that was 3-20 times the original price.

Second- What is the risk of buying large amount of shards? I can't tell if it's a RMT, but 9k shards seems to be too fishy to not be a RMT (20 hrs worth of mining). Advice?

no one can control the market since as soon as something is listed for a lower price then whats already on the market IT SELLS...

unless the item NEVER SELLS to begin with...

Look at the retainers name when they sell the crystals. If they mostly consist of random letters, and are the lowest prices...chances are they are RMT sellers. So just buy crystals from retainers with more subtle names, and seem like they're sold from real players.

Most of the time, RMT undercut prices.

I am not saying RMT is the "only" one undercut prices. I am saying RMT , most likely, don't try to corner market by buying up shards.

Sorry I should have clarified- they were RMTs unless lvl 1 characters usually have 60k+ worth of gold and are able to buy 500 shards / 200 crystals at once without even getting to lvl 20 for retainer.

I looked at the history of shards sold when this was happening because the prices were jumping from 7 gil to 60, sometimes 200 and I realized it was lvl 1 characters buying the low priced shards.

So yes, they are controlling the market.

EDIT: Emphasis on multiple lvl 1 characters doing this.

Then go gather some shards and sell it at a high price so they can "control" the market. LOL.

We have so many Botters that it's not worth gathering since the Botters price everything so low, it's better to just buy than level up gathering

It's not against the rules. People like to undercut like CRAZY, so I sometimes buy their products and relist. I made about 500k profit in a day buying and reselling Materia because people wanted Gil much faster.

Yea, I made over 200k just buying Fleece. I can't move fast enough to get fleece against the fast botters, so now I buy fleece when the price is low and sell it when their accounts are banned at a higher price
