How to fix RMT and Bots

Hacker wouldnt require a credit card. They would just hack your account that has your credit card. And you can easily go to any store ajd buy a $20 prepaid. Hell they could buy 5 at a time to save them some hassle. There is never an "easy" fix, especially not at the begining stages of a new game. Takes time, eventually you wont even notice them. They will always exist though, in every mmo.

But if SE starts banning them daily, they won't be going to the store everyday to spend $20 on dozens of pre-paid cards just to have them banned the next day. And if they are stealing cards huge legal issue, not sure how many are into breaking the law. Hacking accounts, ya that's a problem, but really how many RMT are doing that? Plus, SE would just have to require a token, or give one out when you buy the game, or increase security, like password length, complexity or required to change after X number of days.

I guess I'm just sick of getting bombarded with gill spam, and I just started mining last night and saw at least 6 mining characters warping around from spot to spot.

Majority of RMT live in other countries, so its alittle less likely they will be caught and prosecuted for hacking your account. Account hacks happen on a regular basis in all MMOs, and using your suggestion, they dont need to use your credit card for anything. You say they should require a credit card on your account to make a character, so if they hack your account, they have your card on file and can make the charactwrs

One can only hope the 'task force' they set up has a good way to ID those who are buying the gil. If they weren't getting customers, the RMT spammers would have stopped by now.
