forum post limitations...a suggestion

okay first while I don't particularly like these post limitations based on char level which I find to be rather silly I have a suggestion to make things easier

give us a small meter somewhere in plain site to tell us how many posts we have left and how long till we can post again if we have none.

also as Kittra pointed out below the 1000 character limitation is ridiculous as well but if you plan to keep it how about a counter to tell us how many characters we have left

I hope you will consider this

Quite a few times now I have written a long post just to be locked out after it saying I have reached my limit. I didn't even know there was a char level limit and until today my char was still showing as 34BLM

A little bar or table with "posts remaining: 3 -- threads remaining: 1" would be really appreciated

This restriction is ridiculous in it's current implementation. I have been a member of the forum since 1.0 closed beta, and a paid subscriber for as long as there's been a sub fee in place since 1.0
I start a new character to reign in ARR, and I'm told my characters level is too low to post? Really? Look at my join date, do I look like a spam bot?

I get the reason behind it; you need to stop spammers/bots on the forums but honestly... please rethink it. It's a horrible idea the way it is now.

As far as the forums are concerned, can we remove the 1000 character limitation?

I realize this was probably added to combat spammers, but at present it also takes "Quotes" into account for the 1000 character limit.

The post limitation is also pointless, as after my initial post, I can go in and edit the original as many times as I want with as many characters as I please.


In short, remove the 1000 character limitation, and while you're at it, remove the daily post limitation from General Discussion.

We didn't have to deal with limitations in the original forums, why should the ARR forums be worse?

I don't think they are going to remove the restictions but they could atleast make our lives easier by allowing us to see the limts before we hit the post/reply button

I'll add something so it stays up in the forum. I really don't see a point to put limits, especially based on a characters level. This is just pointless and should do away with it.

Also guys, if you have a PS3, can you do me a favor and please read the Thread I created and put your two cents in. Good or Bad. It's just not any fun doing Behemoth and Odin Fates with so many people there and not being able to target your party members to heal and also not being able to target the FATE Monsters. I put in some suggestions. Just go there and tell me what you guys think so far as for PS3 Users. Right now with how it is, it is fairly difficult to do FATES with loads of players so please go check it out and tell me what you think and I also hope SE looks into my thread. It's doable. Thanks guys.^^

The reason there's posting restrictions like the 1000 character limit is because the Beta forum degenerated into a wretched hive of flaming and troll posts (SE implemented the same restrictions on the Beta forum) - no doubt that spooked them so hence they just kept the restrictions on the Lodestone.

Yes it's annoying, but the 1000 character thing is easily worked around (post the first section of your post under that limit, then simply edit in the rest), and the amount of posts you can make each day increases with your character's level - it's to stop new players coming on and making endless 'hello world!' type spam threads/posts. Or at least, that's what it seems to me.

SE are only responding to community behaviour - if people didn't troll or post spam so much we wouldn't have this problem - it's a case of 'this is why we can't have nice things.'

Near as I can tell, you get a maximum post limit of 10 per day at the max character level... personally I find this unacceptable. We can work around the 1000 character limit, but not around the posts per day limit, which sucks.

And then we run into this bull crap where I try to quote and end up having "too many characters" so I shorten it by a sentence and now my response is "too short, please add more characters..." (Yes, this just happened.)
