You people have really radical expectations of what an MMO is. You don't want to do group content? Why are you here? Are you expecting 15 min dungeons or something? How is that fun?

I think some of you just seem to want candy crush but seeing other people play it at the same time kind of game.

This is an MMO, that mean lots of grinding, group play, your expected to play for more than 30 minutes at a time if you ever want to get anything done.

This is all just common sense.

I enjoy slowly progressing through the main story quests, but when I get to a dungeon I know I'm stuck until I get extra time to sit down and play it.

When I DO get to a dungeon and use the DF to get a party (thankfully I never need to wait since I'm a Tank), there is always someone in the group who knows what to do at each new boss. So we never wipe or fail (so far). This is taking a lot of the charm and fun out of doing these dungeons for the first time...
These dungeons aren't that difficult in the first place. You aren't goign to wipe unless someone makes a terrible mistake. This isn't happening because someone who has done the dungeon before is running with you.

And yes, it will change. when / if you ever unlock coil of bahamut, get used to wiping pretty much every time until you get really good.

But 35-40 minutes is too casual for even the most casual MMO. If you can't occasionally devote at least 1 full hour you're going to get stuck on the longer dungeons unless you specifically team up with people who run them really fast. Hell I can barely think of even a non MMO video game other than a puzzle game or phone game that doesn't take at LEAST half an hour a sitting to make progress in. What do you do that leaves you with less than an hour of free time every single day?

Some of your goals seem to conflict with each other. Just saying.

MMO != Forced to group. If that were the case, this version of the game would not have solo quests. Any MMO needs to satisfy the casual/solo player to survive.

Then be a crafter, that is all solo play. Stop QQing.

That's your solution? Crafting is boring. Not everyone likes to play the same way you do.

Honestly, I LOVE that they did that. In fact I think they should have done it a lot more aggressively. This way, by the time you get to the end game you actually played all the content that the balance and design team assumes you did rather than showing up having solo/FATE'd your way to end game with absolutely ZERO clue what you are doing and then complaining that "OMG! its SOOO HARD!".

MMO, the second M is for Multiplayer.

    Sigh

Again just because it's an MMO Does not mean you should be forced to group!!! MMOs are virtual worlds and should not be reduced to a single viable playstyle. Solo and Group should be equally supported. I absolutely hate being forced into content I do not enjoy. I've grown bored of Fates and I would really just like to experience the story but without all the unnecessary group gates.

Don't you think you are being a bit selfish?

I can empathize with your point that the dungeons do require a decent chunk of time. But please let's not go to the WoW model where dungeons are completely mindless 10-20 minute affairs. I like that these dungeons have a bit of substance.

But why would you expect Square to be responsible for making sure that you get only virgins in your group? What's wrong with having a helpful community member explain a boss fight?

Lol complaining about Dungeon running smoothly with no Challenge using DF, that's a first. Wait until you get to end game Dungeon and do those Primals Hardmode. It put a lot of stress on you especially if you are a Tank. I bet after do end game without some good friends or an active FC, I bet you will uninstall this game right away. End game community is really bad right now.

Right now I am "forced" casual because of various IRL things going on. I play when I can, but it equates to about 1 hour every other day IF I am lucky. When there is a dungeon it means I can no longer continue with the story, so I stop and go level up my other classes, do the hunting logs, focus on crafting, and collect seals.

I feel like I am pretty much behind in everything right now and that I know nothing when it comes to dungeons. I always have high hopes of doing a few dungeons runs so I can learn them for myself, but it is impossible for me right now.

I have 10 days left on my trail period. I love the game and the community. I always hear horror stories on these forums but I have had nothing but great times on the Coeurl server. (Well, except the gold sellers, of course) However, I feel like I might wait to subscribe until I have more time to give to the game. It was not made for quick “pick up and play” play styles, which I appreciate, but at this time, it’s just not working out well for me.

I miss the days when I could play 5-8 hours a day!! GAH! It is maddening!
