    Crafting is useless, no need to have. Post your ideas how to improve

    Greetings. I think, that crafting is useless in FF. No need to level up, because all most powerfull gear we can gain by compleating dungeons, by bying gear for alagan tome stones. Alchemy and culinarian useless at all, because no need to eat food (it gives useless and too little bonuses), no need to craft potions, because it is VERY expensive and no effect- potions give to little bonuses and have too long CDs. EVery player know, that in any hard dungeon all players must have different potions, healing potions and other. In FF no need to have these things- no need, heals do all work. It is not right. My ideas will be in the message below

    1) REbalanse culinarian and alchemy to make potions and food realy usefull, so every player must have it
    2) Give EVERY crafting profession (on cap level or earlier) some kind of battle passive or active skill, so every DoW class need it to become more powerfull. For example, carpenter 50 level can give to bard passive skill for dexterity bonus and so on
    3) Cut away THE MOST powerfull gear from dungeons and alagan shop. In dungeons must drop ONLY resourses for crafting such gear. And this resourses must be untradable. So, good gear players can gain in dungeons, yes, but THE MOST POWERFULL gear must be only craftable. It meen, that players have to level up crafting professions, if they want to create this MOST POWERFULL gear by using untradable resourses, which players will gain in HARDESTS dungeons. Such dungeons will drop good gear, yes, but these resourses too. Thank you

    I'm not sure about #3... Forcing people who do not want to craft to have to craft in order to get the best gear is asking a lot... and it means everyone will be self-sufficient (therefore no need for those who actually enjoy crafting to offer their services to others).

    Perhaps it would be simpler mechanic:
    If we take iLvl to be a valid way to compare any two pieces of equipment for a given slot, then:
    Crafters should be able to craft from 0 to X.
    Dungeon equipment should be from 0 to X+5
    Each material increase the iLvl by 1.

    So a crafted iLvl 55 trousers with 0 material is iLvl 55, and equivalent to an iLvl 55 dungeon dropped trousers.
    If I add 4 Materia to it (fail to add 5 because its too hard), it becomes the equivalent of an iLvl59.

    Of course the numbers are examples, but the premise is that by adding material to a crafted item we can achieve equivalent armor to dungeon drops. And of course the higher level crafted gear requires harder to obtain resources.

    my reply to this? bring back the old 1.0 meldings. Where theres not stat caps on gears, and gears blow up when you fail a double meld ( yes, thats right, get rid of that 2nd 100% success slot ). back in 1.0 DL had such bad drop rate that me and my friends were forced to make our own OPed gears, Triple IV Vits, HPs, INTs, STR, MNDS, PIE, +Enmity. the cost especially of that Triple INTs compare to now's current gil value, it cost like 3 Millions! just buying all those INT IV materias.

    How many more threads are you going to create complaining about the game? If you don't like it, stop playing it.

    Also...if you're going to make one thread complaining about how you can't make money and don't want to do it by crafting or gathering, don't make another suggesting that everyone should have to craft or gather.

    if OP didnt play 1.0, back then double melds and triple melds were like epic, there were helpful to kill Van Darnus. And They sell amazing, i remember selling for 2 Mil a triple melded fingerless raptorskin glove that has IV Strs and a IV Accuracy. and Double melded gears were on the 6 figure prices. Gears was defenetly more unique in 1.0, because players can take advantage of STATS stacking of what seemed benificial to them.

    also, now i just verified yesterday, Magic Attack Potency is 1 to 1 increase with INTs ( you all know already, then my appologies for me being slow with thew news ^^; )

    My suggestion is to keep making the same threads over and over again the crafting/doh/general forums.
    **That was sarcasm**

    SE has to know how !#$!@ this stuff is by now (they comment on threads with far less views/replies about issues only a small fraction of the FFXIV population cares about, but not issues effecting an entire set of jobs). Honestly I think they don't care.

    I disagree it's useless though. I've made tons of money crafting and used it to make a lot ilvl 70 gear and bypass some of the CM/Prae grind.
