My absolute first encounter with Final Fantasy was on the NES when it first came out. Was staying with friends of a friend and played it for a little bit but it did not grab me.

    Years later...

I got stabbed in the head in a street brawl and barely escaped with my life. After returning from the hospital the group home I was in forced me to stay in my room under the "sick" rules since I was under orders from the doctor to take it easy for a few days.

So there I was, alone, bored, and shaken up from a near death experience with no one to talk to. One of the staffers brought me in a TV, a NES, and a copy of Final Fantasy from their own home. They showed me the basics and left me to my devices.

I was hooked. Have played every major release on console that was a true RPG... none of the silly action games. Tried FFXI for a few days and hated it. To grindy and solo unfriendly. FFXIV 1.0 was the same so left it in beta.

I've played FF 6-12, 6 being my absolute favorite, and 12, tactics advance, and tactics A2, being my favorite settings. I love the Ivalice setting more than any other FF world.

I have also played FFXIV since beta, and I have a strong attachment to those past experiences, roaming around La Noscea being terrified of the dodo's and drakes. I can also proudly state that I was the first person to compile a list of alchemy recipes when alchemy was first introduced in beta (Back then you had to find out recipes the hard way, by discovery, with no logs or records other than what the community compiled, and the recipes were overly complicated. You needed like 20 different things to make a Hempen Cowl for example.). It is a proud feeling to know that I reached lvl 20 alchemy back in the day, and was probably one of the only people to do so.
