I started back on my NES, Garland tried to knock us all down. Played on to 4 which became my favorite. Played on from that to the present, had a torrent affair with FFT.
For mmo's I started back with Neverwinter.

ahem FF13*cough & I did enjoy it...
Started with I on the NES when I was a kid. Played all of the numbered games except 13 and the VS / handheld things. It's hard to choose between VI and VIII as my favorite. 10 was good but every title after started straying from what I liked about FF more each release. Played 11 until a bit after Abyssea and XIV v1.
What brought me to ARR is that my character and LS continued on in to it.
I played 11 and v1 due to a lot of they ways they weren't like the standard western MMO. In that respect ARR definitely does not live up to it's predecessors. I'll wait to see how the first level cap raise is handled to give my final opinion.
I can only really compare story / style / music to the single player games fairly. Story isn't even close but is still at the top of the genre, artistic style and design are spot on (less CSs), music is a step down but not a huge one.
VIII was my first, I remember being given a demo by a very friendly chap in Electronics Boutiqe in the Metro Centre, and the demo started on that Dollet mission... I was absolutely blown away by it. I think I was 13 or 14 years old.
Loved it. Discussing that game got me talking to my current partner, and we've been together for like 7 years now. I do like to wonder if I ever would have struck up the conversation with him if we hadn't had that common interest :3
This is why I'm here now, anyway, I relish in anything FF related and I'm not at all ashamed to admit it - I even enjoyed 13 and 12, how very dare I!
i'm a FF fan by heart hands down. I started playing FF games since FF7. I've played FF8,FF9,FF10,FF10-2,FF12,FF13,FF13-2, and FF tactics. my ALL TIME favorite Final Fantasy games are FF7,FF9,FF10, and FF Tactics. right now i'm looking forward to FF13 lightning returns and FF15.
I'm totally digging FF14 ARR. I love this game.

I have to say i am a fan of the ff franchise but it also helps that i enjoy playing games with my friends but the only mmo that i truly got into was DCUO.
FF l, ll, lll, lV, Vl, Vll, dirge of Cerberus, crisis core, Vlll, lX, X, X2, Xll, Xlll, Tactics, and dissidea are the ffs I played.
The same as some of you, my first Final Fantasy was I for the NES in 1997. Then II, IV, VI, V, Mystic Quest, Legends III, VIII, IX, Tactics, VII, Tactics Advance, III, X, X-2, XII, Dirge of Cerberus,Tactics Advance 2, Crisis Core and Dissidia. I don't want to play XIII and its sequels. I went to the Distant Worlds: Final Fantasy when I met Nobuo Uematsu in the meet and greet. I watched Final Fantasy the Spirits Within and Advent Children (that one sucked).

My first FF was 6 on the SNES. This was back in like.... later half of the 90s, probably leading into the new millenium. However, my first Square RPG was actually unrelated to the FF series (Chrono Trigger). I think the only time I ever got to play either was whenever I was allowed to get rentals (and they usually had other people's save files on them).
I read a lot about FF7 in Game Magazines, and became attracted to the music through MIDIs (though I didn't like One Winged Angel then and still don't), as well as developed a sort of childhood crush on Tifa (though it never went beyond PG rating-stuff). Would not get back into FF until high school, where I met the Totemas Famfrit & Adrammalech via FFTA and began having nightmares once I got to the end of Crystal Chronicles (due to what happened with Raem). Didn't get back into FF until after high school, which was where I played 11 and 12. Got into 11 during ToAU (pre-Salvage era), quit near the beginning of WoTG. Community was said to be high-rate, but it lied. It only served to reinforce what I learned later in WoW (which I played AFTER 11 - and only out of vain curiosity).
In 12, I got attached to Vaan more than I did any other character (him and Balthier). After that, a lot of just standing by the sidelines while 13's drama went on (which I have not played to this day), and now I'm here. And I really dig what they've done with this game.
Since nintendo
