30 days almost up and I still can't enter endgame due to droprate

[TL;DR I have had 1 paladin sword dropped in 205 Ifrit Hard Mode kills. I don't feel geared enough to continue my relic weapon quest with my level 55 green scimitar.]

    Hey Guys,

I reached level 50 Paladin a little more than two weeks ago, and have been taking on Ifrit hard mode on a daily basis. I have run the boss 10-15 times a day, which have totaled a whopping 205 runs. I recorded all my drops since I started, as my friend also seemed to have had trouble getting their specific item drop.

    Here are the results:
    Warrior Axe: 61 (29.8%)
    Scholar's Codex: 42 (20.5%)
    Arcanist's Grimoire: 35 (17.1%)
    Monk's Arm: 28 (13.7%)
    Black Mage's Cudgel: 13 (6.3%)
    Dragoons lance: 12 (5.9%)
    Bard's Bow: 8 (4%)
    White Mage's Staff: 5 (2.4%)
    Paladins Sword: 1 (0.5%)
Now, the fact that I even saw the Paladins Sword, and rolled a need and got 2 is beside the point. The problem I have is this: I have basically mastered this boss fight, attack patterns and all. I have run this with varying parties, such as 6 dps, 1 healer and 1 tank, where I both tank and stun Ifrit, and even going with 5 dps, 2 healers, 1 tank where 1 healer goes cleric stance and dps's for the first half of fight until nails. The best time my party could reach with average level 50 gear was 8 minutes 53 seconds.

I have created numerous parties from having one person of each class in the party to test my theory that if you have varying classes, at least someone will be able to obtain their desired weapon. This did prove to be the case, and the party agreed to rotate out if they got their weapon drop to allow somebody else into the pre-made party to have a chance for their weapon drop as well. It was noted that there was a difference in the usual drop rates, however it returned to its basic pattern of dropping an axe for example, when our Warrior left and we couldn't find another one so we had to use a paladin.

I conclude that I feel as though I have successfully wasted two weeks of my subscription fighting Ifrit hard mode just to progress with end game content. A simple fix to this problem may be implementing a token system similar to the tome system currently in place to obtain your weapon, or to even have a vendor let you trade in two other weapons from a different class for your own class specific weapon.

Thanks for reading guys, and may the light of the twelve shine bright upon you.
    SEpls.

    EDIT:
Quite soon after posting this thread, I went in and started my relic quest and I am up to Titan Hard mode. I am yet to defeat Titan, however I am using my level 55 GC weapon. I have given up on continuing my quest to obtain Ifrit's blade as I now believe it is not for me.

To those people who commented on this thread completely hating on me: I would not have run Ifrit over 200 times if I knew I would not be able to obtain the sword. I went into this with the mentality that there is RNG in the game, and that EVENTUALLY I would have been able to obtain the sword.
Furthermore, ANY damage increase in a sword assists generating eminity, no matter how small the increase may be.

My goal in this game is to become one of the best paladin's on my server, and assist people throughout the server on any problems that they have running dungeons. Due to this, I went out today and purchased the last 60 day time card at my local gamestop to achieve my goal.

Thanks to everyone who has supported me, and enjoy your days in Eorzea

Token system just might work, and I, for one, think it's a great idea! Hoping something comes down, I still haven't seen my lance, yet I have clannies that have gone and said they had it drop 3 times in one day, and of course there were no dragoons to roll a need for it, go figure.

Or they can fix the obviously broken drop rates. Making all weapons have the same chance at dropping maybe? Or some "crazy" efficient system that omits any drops for classes that arent present during a fight making it a 12.5% chance for anyone in the instance, not 0.5. Maybe even split the drops to where they drop from different content, that way the chances are even higher.

No no thats just too silly for the games designers.

Regardless, ANYTHING is better than some 'losers trophy' token system. I want to play the dungeon and feel the anticipation and excitement of not knowing whether or not ill finally have my weapon upgrade... not some idiotic monotonous countdown to how many more runs I need to do before I walk to some NPC to buy it.

I've had a near identical experience as the OP, except that A.) my numbers were smaller and B.) I've given up sooner. So kudos to you for still trying

I take no pleasure in grinding out SE's poorly designed item-drop mechanics. I can just see how this is going to go in the months ahead, and I have no interest in it all. I need to find another MMO, or follow the FFXIV news updates to watch for a dramatic improvement.

I'll admit I am a bit biased, I'm a bit embittered by the way they handled RME in FFXI, and FFXIV is clearly going down the same path - I'm glad I got out early in FFXIV. I quit FFXI for the same shift from horizontal to vertical gear progression. I played FFXI for 10+ years.

Good luck to those of you who enjoy blind random luck, month after month.

In case you wondered what my FFXI character was:

The question is... what MMO? I can't stand WoW, too cartoony, and FFXI is junk now too

well we used to have individual weapons for each player in party, they had their own chest to open at the end of fight, you would get one of 3 options, 1 was weapon, 2 was the token needed to buy the weapon from the oldman, 3 was empty/gil/coins, but what you got most of time was weapons that you already had, there have had been times where people would go 4/5 times same weapon but since they already had it they would not be able to pick it... or other party members getting what you need and you getting what they needed, but I think this is better way having only 1 weapon at the end of it, or you could hope that they add in tokens back again, where you go and buy the weapon but that needed 15-20 tokens in V1 but they were tradeable, so you could have you fc member get the token for people who need it...

I have made this comment in another thread but I want to say it again. It should NOT take pure luck to get your weapon. If you are skilled enough to beat Ifrit so many times...you should get it. You poor people that are fighting him a rediculous amount of times I feel bad for you and really hope I don't have that happen to me, but with my luck I will never get my bow. Hopefully SE takes a look at this and makes this more FAIR.

If I have to fight the SOB 100 times or more I may break my controller. LOL

I've told many people this same thing, it is literally easier to get a relic than try to get any specific relic weapon from any of the primals.

RNG is RNG, I got 50 on my PLD today and got the weapon in my frist Ifrit run. It's not required for you to get relic.

not to burst your bubble but I beat Garuda with a lv 34 (or something around that) White weapon on my paladin lv 50.

For a paladin the most important thing is your armor not your weapon. If you want to be "geared" then farm CM for tombs and darklight. If you really want that ifrit blade then do ifrit after every 2 CM runs. Once you have 3 or 4 pieces of darklight you'll be 100% fine for garuda. Once you have most of the darklight set you'll be ready for titan. Your green weapon is perfectly fine for both fights. You are not there to do DPS and while more damage on your weapon will help holding hate you really shouldn't have too much of a problem with that... maybe slight issues on titan but you should have no issues whatsoever on garuda. If your party doesn't do enough dps it isn't your fault it is the DD's fault.
