What if we made the action bar more customizable and you could add additional input under an ability? Reverting to XI just cause you are used to it doesn't make it better. The whole flaw with this game stems from the fact they used nothing from XI they learned and scrapped it all completely.

I am in favor of the action bar. However, I would like the ability to put a macro on the action bar, even if it costs 1 point per macro. It wouldn't be too useful for job switch macros, but battle macros being on the action bar, at least for controller users, would be helpful.

    Haha NO!

If they get rid of the action bat they will kill this game, what we need is the ability to turn on more bars, up to 3 additional action bars.

Allow us to add macros directly to the action bar and have the bars displayed all the time.

SE should go look at every other MMO out there and get some ideas for UI, because they obviously have no idea.

Finally give PC user and PS3 users separate interfaces.

Getting rid of the action bar would kill the game? I don't know where you are speaking from, but it isn't the lips on your face. SE have a unique MMo on their hands, and for this very reason, they don't want to copy all the other generic faceless MMo's out there, and instead try something different.

If this game ends up as a WoW clone, I wouldn't think twice about dropping it like a stone. The UI is clunky and needs work, but look at "every other MMO out there" (by which I assume you mean WoW), WoW is still having it's UI changed pretty much every patch, Rift's is awful and very tacky to look at, Aions was nothing to shout about, but they all took a little getting used to and it was fine.

FFXI's is nicely customisable, but very laggy, and should hopefully get updated to be more responsive, but otherwise I like it.

Your views are wildly over the top, as are your predictions lol.

I dont understand the need to add macros to the action bar, when there is already a macro bar. Keeping the two seperate I dont see how it hurts, if you want to use macros use macros, if you want to use the action bar use that. If you dont want it there just move it off of the visible screen.

I think the reason people want to add macros to the action bar is for multi line macros. For example, you can have the button for Banish II on the bar, and it offers you to the option for AoE when you press it, but as a macro, you can have it as a one button cast, and also add in any gear swaps, /p lines and use the /aoe on /aoe off command lines, so it's all under one keypress, but this opens a door for exploitation too, as people could automate actions by doing this.

In my mind - there should be no difference between the Action bar, the Ctrl bar, and the Alt bar. They should all allow you to place macros or skills. This lets people customize stuff and place it in the location that makes the most sense to them. Let me put my skills under a Ctrl menu and let me put macros on my regular Action bar.

With the current setup and a gamepad, I would actually prefer to access more of my skills via Ctrl and Alt, rather than scrolling up and down a one line action bar because then I always know where I am at based upon what buttons i am pressing.

It may not mean much for keyboard players, but for controller players it means not having to take your hand off the controller to execute a macro.

only diff between action and macro is the typing it in first, they can easily make the main line sets up right as u add the move to it the same as we already are doing. but then u can have the option if wanted to add lines to it for aoe, or gear or whatever else. it's just flexibility. right now it just seems like the middle bar is just slowing down the movement. though u'r right in that a middle bar and both macros' equal 3 spots for moves witch is more efficient. the only real argument is that u rather hit the same button without having to type it in one time? is same thing but more flexibility. and like others mentioned at the most they need to add ways to add macros to the middle bar and just give us that bar thenX2 same thing though.

even now the middle bar falls off when u kill a mob, that is horrible and flipping between all 3 feels too clunky.

all i do is play with the controller, why do you need to take off your hand off of the controller? right/left trigger and select relevent macro

also changing gear in a macro serves no purpose at the moment as changing gear mid battle gives no stats for the newly equipped gear.
